Great to get some help. I have a Hitec Optic6 TX and a Futaba R114F RX and the gyro is plugged in channel 4. So this means that I do not use the extra cable on the gyro to adjust the gain/mode from the TX. I have Waypoint mg servos to control the swash and a Robbe FS500 servo to control the tail. The pushrod have a Zbend to connect to the tail and a EZ connector on the servo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This gyro came with the Corona so I dont have any instructions in hand I have only the name of the gyro and it is Align RCE-400 Headlock gyro. Hope this helps as I think you are right about the method of adjusting the pot for the hh.

The full name helped a lot.

Here are the instructions for it

I'm printing them and will take a look as soon as I get back home.

Thanks for the help. I will try to adjust the gyro once more. If that wont do I think I have had it with this.

I am using a GY-401 gyro, with the gain plugged into ch7. This allows me to controll the gain with one of the two sliders in the middle of my TX. Slider in the middle means gyro is off completely. Fully down is normal mode gain 100%, fully up is HH mode gain 100%. I found that putting it on 50% HH gain gives pertymuch a good tail lock.

My setting.
--Onboard--
DS: Off
DIR: Normal
Delay: 45 (HS-81BB)
Limit: WAY open.

--On TX Slider--
Gain: +52% (Counting from bottom, its about 76% up.)

Hope this helps.

Edit:
Oh and before I forget, you DID turn off the Revo mixer junk, right? This SERIOUSLY messes with your headinglock, because it keeps thinking you are giving manual input (wich overrides HH). Be sure throttle isnt mixed with heck and/or your servo gain channel, and it should be good.

Freakazoid,

Good call on the Revo Mix, I was thinking the same thing.

Iceman,

Also make sure the Gyro is installed correctly. The pot screws should be point to the right, left front or back of the heli, anything but straight up).

I have not programmed any revomix in the TX. Pretty much straight forward witout any mixing at all. The RX is only a 4 channel so that limits the options. I have the gyro installed on the right side so I had to reverse it. I tried it this afternoon, but with the same bad results with uncontrollable wiggling. I turned the HH off and tried in the main mode also. I had a little more control with that, but nonetheless pretty much wiggling, but not so wildly and fast. I cant think about anything else than that this gyro is the reason for all the problems.

From my experiences, a bad servo, motor interference and vibrations can also cause a twitchy tail that appears to decrease when out of HH. Do you have a brushed or brushless motor?

I have the stock Electrofusion7 with a CastleCreations Fusion 35 Esc. The servos are all brand new and they are checked to work properly. It has no tendency of radio glitch or any interference. The servos are silent with no jitter and they are adjusted to have 100% travel. All I can think of then is that it has vibrations, but as far as I can se the mainaxle and gear works pretty smooth. I have not crashed it yet, but with this tail problem it is only a matter of time before it happens.

Just a thought. The Electrofusion could be interfering with the gyro as it ages. I had a noisy motor two years ago and I ended up having to mount the gyro about 10 inches from the motor, out on the boom. If you can hold down the heli and throttle up without getting hit, try to notice if the TR servo horn moves a lot while the tail is perfectly still. Certain vibrations can also have the same result.

I tried the Corona this afternoon after that I changed the whole driveunit/axle,bearings,head,swash and blades. Those parts are brand new and newer been used. It was silkysmooth and no vibration. I tried it again but the same thing. Wiggling, wiggling, wiggling. I tried to adjust the gyro back and forth and when the second batterypack was empty I had enough of it. One thing I noticed is that the Corona have pretty short operation time on my batteries. Only 6-7 minutes. I am using 7cell sc 2600Mah Sanyo hr. Is that common? Maybe the batteries dont give enough power? They have only been charged 8-10 times each and the charger indicates full charge every time. Any tips on batteries for more duration? I have the BL upgrade ready for it also. I have a Mega 16/15-3 and a CC Phoenix 45, maybe I should try it with that motor instead of the stock.

How's the isolating padding between gyro and crutch? You can use two pieces of servo tape, or in a pinch, the 3M double-sided stuff. Do yourself a favor, dump stock, and put the 16/15/3 and CC45 in. See if that helps. Though Mega probably wants 8-cells for best performance. Any way, give it a try. Seven minutes seems a good time with 7-cell 2600s. The 8-cell packs of Elite 3600s from cheapbatterypacks.com are excellent comparing Mah v. price.

Thanks for your input. I think I will go for the Mega then and install it tomorrow. I might look into a couple 8cell packs of the Elite 3600. As I only have the stock bladegrips 4dot and 6dot will this work with the Mega? What about the stock 9t pinion would that be ok?

I do believe people are using the stock pinion in combination with 4dot grips on both blades. This causes a nice high headspeed, and the mega running in its most efficient curve. Gives good stability.

Iceman,

A few things:

First I have some 4-deg grips, if I have at least an extra set I'll send a set to you.

The packs you have seen just fine. I'm running 8cell 3500s and get 11-12 minutes with the Atomic Fusion Motor (brushed).

I run these packs...I have had great success with them so far.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I've run both 4-4 grips with these packs and 2-4 grips. The 2-4 combo was great until I added the BT flybar. I think the factory flybar creates some lift and BT doesn't so I went back to 4-4 grips with my new setup, works great again.

I'm also using a CSM HLG-200 gyro and it works perfectly. I have two, both I bought used for less than $30.00 each. It might be an inexpensive alternative to a 240 or 401 (they are nicer though!!)

As you can tell from my last posts I think I have had it with the Align gyro. It must be damaged or faulty and I can not get it to lock the tail. I can handle some wiggling but not when the tail wiggles so fast left/right that you can not control it.

If you would sell me those 4dot grips it would be great. I will pay for them and the shipping cost off course. About the gyro you mention, would you sell one of those too? I cant seem to get my hands on a good useable gyro for my Corona.
