I talked to john awhile back about the Tiger after talking to billy zim, I also had asked him If I could go down to his warehouse and facilities to take a walk around, He called me....invited me to a walk around and invited me to go flying with him and his crew (I'm gonna take you up on that soon...I just need to get down there) that to me speaks volumes, I dont see the owner of quick World wide stepping up to the plate something like that...and I havent even bought a tiger yet...but I'm gonna soon! The bigest fact I like is that the modeler seems to me to be the priority not the almighty buck (tho thats why they are there...free enterprise, theres nothing wrong with that) so far from what I can see at least its not substandard crap cranked out of the lowest bidder manufacturer in BFE china (QWW) Kudos for showing up on the most brutal board on the web man...looking forward to ordering a tiger in the future.

I met John last November at the Mulberry FF in Florida, at that time my 12 yr old son was flying a Robbe Ornith. We sat down with John and he showed us the Tiger and all the the features the Tiger had compaired to the Ornith that John was involved with the manufacturer to produce. After watching Steven fly and seeing how knowledgeable he was about helicopters he asked Steven if he would like to be a Field Rep. We've done some testing with different tail and main blades, we also tested the 3D hard dampers with 600 V-Blades, Thunder Tiger 600, and Rotortech 600, we also swapped out the hard dampers to the yellow and Steven perfered the hard dampers, he is currently running Rotortech 92mm tail blades with V-Blade 600 mains, Audacity's 3D pkg. flybar, paddles, and seesaw.

At our Port Charlotte first annual fun fly Rolando Perez (1st place at the Nat's 2 years running) took Steven's Tiger up for a tank and was amazed at how well it flew, we then let Elvis from Miami take it up for some 3D flights, he also enjoyed the Tiger. We have NOT bent a spindle yet, Steven is by no means an expert but he has only been flying for less than a year and hasn't crashed a heli yet and we fly every single weekend both Saturday and Sunday, he likes to fly his Tiger and gets a few tanks in both days, he also has a Predator P-Max with YS91 that he enjoys throughing around in the sky.

If you get a chance to come down to Port Charlotte, look us up we have a private field just a few miles from where the Port Charlotte FF was in February if you made it down for that.

How does Tiger stack up against say, a Raptor?
Overall I think the Tiger has better flying caracteristics than a Raptor. It's more stable in hover even with lighter paddles.
What do you say about the overall handling and flying qualities of the Tiger 50?
Let's see, it's very stable and it almost hovers by itself ( almost ). It has a good roll rate and the power of the pitch is just amazing, it takes off very fast for a 50 size, the tail holds grate in fast inverted backwards flight and it does nice regular autos (i haven't tried any 3D autos yet) .It tracks very nice in FFF once again even with light paddles is just not pitch at all. It's also very easy to set up ,even when this was the first time i set up a CCPM heli but of course Dr. Chongolnee fine tune it for me. Overall the Tiger 50 performs very good and with the low cost of the ARF and parts and it's a really good alternative for guys looking for a 50 size heli that is easy to work on and is cheap to repair. that's just my opinion.
I will try to shot a video soon.

I have really enjoyed my Tiger. I cannot wait till this summer to show her off at some of the big local funflys up in my area. Also planning to go to Ircha and will be bringing the Tiger up there. If you see me at a field feel free to ask to fly the Tiger 50. Right now this is my set up:
Tiger 50 kit
OS50 Hyper
TT muffler
Hitec 645 servos all around
GY401/9254 combo
Airtronics RX
Hitec Eclipse 7
Mavrikk 600mm carbon blades
Mavrikk Tuff Struts landing gear
The following are upgrades offered by Audacity that I have installed:
3D paddles
3D flybar
3D seasaw
3D dampers
Tail boom brace support bridge
Limited slip drive for constant driven tail in autorotations

The OS50 Hyper is AWESOME in this helicopter, its like they were meant for eachother or somethin! I like this heli very much and the customer service is outstanding. One of the things I like best about is I can tune it to meet my needs for hard 3D, while a beginner has a VERY stable platform to learn on. John, for my Tiger in forward flight when I let go of the cyclic stick it tracks straight and doesnt pitch up or down. Another great thing that I thought was a very nice touch was the links were at the correct measurments already, I believe this was mentioned earlier. Also many of the sub assemblys are already built for you even in the kit, saves a lot of time and hassle.
Cant wait for the next decent weather day, John and Lynn, you rock!!

TIGER 50 Rocks

This heli is tight as #@ll. It is great for 3D beginners like myself. I've done loops, rolls, inverts, stall turns, and inverted pirouettes all with the stock wood blades and a head speed of about 1650. I think and I'm going to check today, that I've just recently bent the spindle shaft due to me being stupid. I got all happy and carried away with how sweet this thing and set my head speed to 1790 without a governor (I like setting TH Curves manually) and after making sure that I didn't drop much head speed on climb out (1790 dropped to 1770) :0)
Anyways, I forgot I still had wood baldes and I began doing FFF with rolls, loops, inverted medium hovers with full climb out. When I brought her back in, the blades started fluttering so I'm sure I bent the shaft. I have the stock dampeners and stock wood blades. Other than me being stupid, this thing rocks. There are three people in my are with one me, my friend Mike B., and a guy we just met named Lee. From the beginner to Hard 3D, this is the heli to get. The only thing that could make it better is closer part availablity.

Nice Paint Job!!!

Hey Superman217

What did you paint the canopy with... I like it!!!!
I did the same thing with Tiger last week, but have since changed over to c/f blades and I am in the process of adding the upgrades for 3D... if the weather had been a bit more forgiving I would have gotten to give it a try today, but bad wind and rain gives me time to catch up on the builds!!! I will sneak out later this week and give her a go though and I will post the results... and I am not a 3D pilot!!!!
I placed my order with Audacity and it was priority mailed and I had the parts in (2) two days.... it sounds as if you might as well get that registration card in and get the "goodies" too.....
We are finding the same thing here with the Tiger... everyone that is trying one is coming up with the same info... this is one nice heli... and it will take you from learning to hover and as far as you want to go... one nice package.... and the price certainly doesn't hurt either!!!
Give it **ll and let us know how you are doing.....

One question, on your blade "flutter" though... did you cg the blades and tighten the covering.... that would be more of a cause for flutter then a bent spindle... we pulled all the same manuevers with the woods and had no problem.... "Stan"

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!

tiger 50

since i'm also a rep for audacity you have to take what i say with a grain of salt! not!
i own three of them and have one set up exclusively for night flight.
i have found that the rotortech blades auto better with this heli than the v2's or the funtech blades i've used.
it is quicker on the roll than the raptor 50's i have flown but is easy to build tail heavy. the new longer batt tray helps and as i use lipo's i need a few oz's of extra nose weight but that doesn't hurt at all.
love the ccpm and the os 50 hyper. one of mine has regular os 50 and all of them have cy pipe for 9:1 gearing actually 8.9:1.
very stable in stock config, while agile with a few upgrades.
hope this helps, Ron

Please cancel my clearance, I have the field in sight.

First off, I painted my canopy with Tamiya Color RC Model Paint. First I sanded it, primered it, sanded it, primered it, and then painted it. :0) As far as my fluttering, I took my blade grips off to look at the spindle and noticed that I have a bent ball bearing. It's all my fault due to flying high head speed on wood blades and in very heavy wind. All I can say is that it was fun as hell and my Tiger didn't crash.

I'm thinking about getting another tiger for a Scale project and using this one for 3D or I might just have to get 2 more. One for practice, one for scale, and one fore 3D. Man I love this thing.

As some of you have seen, the Tiger 50 is a very capable heli in the 50 class. I really like the way mine flies. It's very smooth in hover and FFF and also tracks very well through manuevers. I just recently installed a hyper in mine and still breaking in the motor. The biggest factor is with the support from John beech. As some have stated and even John chiming in, he goes along way to satisfy the customer first and foremost!! Another great aspect of the heli is the price. As one that is a budhet minded modeler, the Tiger can't be beat in price. So I really do enjoy my heli, just need to get more time to fly!!

Paint Info

Superman217
Thanks for the info on the paint.... I like to make mine look different too....
Later on this season I am certain that I will be taking some measurements for a fuselage.... in the stock configuration, this will make an excellent platform, and it should handle just about any of the available fuselages out there....
I can see how these could become like potatoe chips..... it is hard to just have one!!!!
One mild, one wild, one scale..... pretty easy fleet to maintain!!!!
I like it!!!! Stan,

tiger 50

after flying th tiger 50 i would have to comment on how smooth it felt with no pitcie tendences, compared to the raptor 50 v2, i like the fact that it was ccpm like that of the jr kits.i would have to say that anybody looking for a good entry level heli should consider this tiger 50 over the raptor 50 the ease of set up with ccpm the fact that it can go from mild to wild with out alot of expensive up grades give the consumer big benifits let alone the mony u save on the kits.
keep the blades turning

"WINDY" is an Understatement

But, I just could not let this sit in the car.... we went out to do a little field maintenance and once that was out of the way we had to give this a try...
This machine just keep on impressing me and all of the others that fly it....
I really didn't know what to expect with the upgrades on it, but gave it a go anyway... IT HAS NO BAD TRAITS.... and I meant to say that loud!!!
The wind was gusting anywhere from 5 to 25mph at times (approx) and this unit flew like there was nothing... a little puff every once in awhile, but nothing to worry about.... This is a solid hoveing machine... and that is the bottom line.. then I turn it loose and even in these adverse condidtions, it stayed "smoooooth" , loops as big as you want then, rolls tied together like it was on a track, invertered (and I am very new to this) no problem and very easy to control... I actually got further then I ever have..
I guess what really impresses me the most is that this is only the 3rd time out with it...and the dail in is so easy to get....
I also had two other pilots (see, we are all sick for being there!!) give it a try and they both had the same comments at how comfortable they felt with the Tiger from the first time they put it in a hover....
As a club instructor/heli mechanic/fixed wing test pilot (RC), I have found the NEW HELI that I will recommend to anyone that asks me what to start on.... this one does it all and a lot more then I am capable of.. but I am learning!!!!!!!!! It gives you that kind of confidence...

Heh, Heh Thanks!! My family's been in the painting business for over 20 yrs. I could paint before I could drive...legally. My brother hooked me up with some DuPont Chromabase. Worked pretty well but it's not as nice up close. I was in a big hurry just to see if I could do something with it. I'll take my time on the next one.
I just came in from flying and was going to upload some more pics. I apologize for the crappy quality but I'd rather spend the money on heli stuff than a better camera. I am still really impressed with the way this thing flies!! I'm just a beginner but the Tiger makes me look, and feel like a pro!! Can't wait till tomorrow!!

BTW, just a quick note, turbinewannabe, I notice that you are using a glow plug extension, a cool thing about the Tiger is that with the canopy on there is enough room to put the igniter straight to the glowplug, just thought I would let you know and might save a little hassle in the future on the Tiger. Could get some more heat to the plug by bypassing the wire that the glow plug extension uses. Glad to see you all are enjoying your Tigers! - Billy

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate it. I'd gladly paint some bodies up fer ya! 2 conditions, 1) you're not in a big hurry and 2) you're not REAL particular I'm really good for those "distance" paint jobs... you know, the greater the distance you are away from it, the greater the paint job! As we used to say in the shop, "a blind man on a fast horse at midnight would never even notice that!" haha
As far as the remote glow, I know you can get the igniter on w/the canopy on but I figured the extension would make it a little easier for me, I've been running equipment for the last 15 years and before that I worked on a mason's crew and my back just doesn't bend like it used to!! darn it. Besides, it's been working really well so far and I think it looks kinda coool. ...or not welp...gotta fly! looks like it's gonna be another nice evening!!
...sure hope I don't crash

Flew one of my Tigers yesterday, did a hot start and burned up the clutch, still got in a couple of flights before the clutch completely let go.
called John Beech and had an order out the door to me in a couple of hours.
Flew another tiger 50 today and have to say that the fear factor is much lower now than with my Futura SE"s or my Futura Nova, plus the fuel burn with the 50 is so much less than the 91's.

Did some low (to me) inverted passes and flips, huge loops and fff was great, considering that this heli has about 4 flights on it and the other one has maybe 5 flights and the night flyer only has two flights on it, this heli is awesome.

Went to the local hobby shop and bought my son a tiger 50 and shipped to him today. Hope he likes it as well as the Raven 50 i gave him.

Got to go fly to alabama in the am, c-ya Guys,,,,,Ron

Please cancel my clearance, I have the field in sight.
