Yeah Baby,

I put on a small fun fly gathering with some of my local friends at a field I lease from the local farmer for heli flying. Of course some of my local friends are XFC pilots and the guys I travel with during the summer to Fun Flys and competitions. We had a BLAST Saturday afternoon.

The Avants got beat all day long.....tank after tank. The speed of the Avant, and the collective response is unmatched!

Here is the crew that attended............
Big Dave Collings, Paul Soha (XFC), Alex Rodriguez(XFC),
Brian Bennett, Neil Gerren, Steve Nelson & Andre,
Tom Erb(XFC Judge 2003-2004), and Dave & Erika.

Alex and Paul, you guys are looking good for the XFC.
Alex, your piro flips with your X-Spec in the dirt looked just like Alan Szabo. Alan better keep at least one eye on you this year!!
Paul, you were flying your AVANT with some serious SPUNK!
You both will be real contenders.

Brian, man your looking good.
Steve....REAL smooth on that Tempest.
Dave, glad to see that Raptor in the air.
Tom, that SMAC was FASSSST!
Neil, you commanded your Avant and the Fury Tempest.

Here are some pics of the FUN!!!

I need somebody to bring a video camera this week. I do not own one. Steve needs to bring his because it is a studio video recorder $$.

I will see if he can get some footage of our 3 Avants this week.
They all truly Rocked!
Some of the comments were...."I can't believe it can change directions that Fast!"
"It stops just as fast as it goes, then changes direction"

I was doing Death Spirals that had a recovery at the bottom as if it hit a brick wall. It was immediate as if it only weighed 3 pounds!

Hey Mike,

We have these little get togethers all the time. I will be sure to let you know of the next one. This new field we are leasing really rocks!!! Wide open space on 300 acres.

Great Day!

7 Tanks and 3 Battery packs. My fingers were sore.

Nice to see everybody. It looks like winter sim work has paid dividends to everyone. All the birds left that day still airworthy despite the intense flying.

Dave, that twin Zaggie is incredible.

Thanks to everyone
Brian

The fun continued on Sunday!

Saturday was a lot of fun. It was a great group of people. I particularly enjoyed flying combat with the Zagi and the Smac U....

Burned a gallon in the Avant at the field yesterday. I look forward to getting all the setup done. It's a HOOT to fly! You can bring the machine down without worrying about putting it in. It has lots of reserve power to get you out of trouble... I've never felt so connected to a machine!

I was flying my Avant this week end. It is alot of fun to fly. It has a light weight feel to it and seems to be very stable with extreme cyclic movement to it. I love to fly it. You can pitch push-up all day long. Here are some pictures of it without the canopy. I hacked up an old freya canopy to fly it today. It was pretty ugly!

Nice and clean looking heli! how about a pic with the canopy on it? I'm working on mine. It should be ready by the end of the week, if my blades come in. I can' wait to get this thing airborne again. How is the Avant w/ v-paddles?

I am painting my canopy, it should be ready this weekend. The hirobo one that i was flying, i cut out with a pair of tinsnips. It look like hell.
It was funtional but that's about all.

It flies great with them on there. I think that being the same core as the v-blade, makes it a good combination. They are about 15grams. The hirobo with the lead out of them are about 20grams.:

Its a hybrid, CarbonXtreme frames, CNC bit and pieces, and the rest from a Freya. The Freya is essentially a "donor" heli.

Sorry for the long note, I didn't have time to write a short one.

They aren't made by Hirobo. It is an "upgrade kit" made by Carbon Extreme for the Freya or the X-spec. It is well worth the money. It makes the heli easier to work on. Do a search on the Avant. The main thread on the Avant is "Avant previews at IRCHA" that was the first thread ever about it and alot of info is there along with pics.
