Is the 12X DSM2 like they said ? Still have a button on the back ?
Very respectable number for a 12 channel radio - less than the X9303.

RCHelicopterGuy, You have to keep something in perspective... The ATX radio you are referring to only updated four channels each frame. We are now updating 12 channels with twice the resolution every frame.
Rhett, > Any idea why they would choose the 2/3 update rate, versus 3/3?
It's just what Futaba chose to do. Only they know.
Ace, > Anyone know what the maximum length of a frame is?
In general or of a specific radio or?
FS, > Is the 12X DSM2 like they said? Still have a button on the back ?
Yes an yes.

Good question, is the frame size based on vendor implementation or hardware or determined by a governing body/standard (e.g., IEEE) dependent?

Ahhhh, I must have missed that. You're right, that does offer another perspective. The numbers aren't quite as "bad" when viewed in that light.
Thanks for the clarification. I'm still hoping the next high-end ATX radio blows 'em all into the bullrushes.

They certainly wouldn't dare step backwards from the Stylus' specs, eh? Only place left to go is up (down, actually) with time-related performance specs.
From a layman's point of view I'll speculate that we're pretty close to as fast as we're gonna get, latency-wise. Anything under 25 ms avg is respectable, and is surely plenty fast enough for what even the best RC guys do with their birds.

One would never argue that faster isn't better, but given the nature of our gear and the (possible) cost per unit to get below 10 ms, do you really think there'll be much of a push by either the manufacturers OR the pilots to achieve it?

Here are the receiver pulse output schemes for the AR9000/R921 and R1221 receivers with the JR 12X in heli mode.

Gimbal,
While I probably agree that there's not enough return in the model aviation world to justify the development costs of an ultra-fast radio link, my guess is that the technology trickle-down from other industries will continue to advance radio technology.

FS, The channels are classic JR... 2, 3, and 6.

Jkos,
Which 12x did you test, modular or integrated. I understand that they are suppose to be exactly the same, just curious.
Am I reading the results correctly, the DX7 is faster than the 12X?

I like the Futaba sequence. 1,2,3 swash 4 rud, 5 gyro, 6 throt, 7 gov, 8 gov2, 9 needle and so on
