I am considering this kit for my first heli. Would this heli be a good choice? Would CCPM help me or hurt me as a beginner? Any known problems with this heli? How is the overall design and reliability? How is the upgrade path on these? Do they fly well? Thanks in advance!

The Ergo 30 CCPM is an excellent heli that flys very well. Parts are available and it is easy to upgrade to a 46 with a new motor mount and fan. The CCPM probably would neither help nor hurt you unless you set it up wrong. Now, if this is your very first heli and have never flown a plane or sim, I would recommend a Raptor 30. Here's why is say this: 1. You can probably find a cheap used raptor 30. 2. You can get away with lower end ball bearing servos such as a futaba 3001's. 3. Most likely there is an experienced flyer near you with raptor experience if you need help. 4. You are not out of as much money if you decide not to stick with helis. 5. There is always a market for used raptors. 6. Raptor 30's crash pretty cheap.($50 crash kit includes more than you usually need). Again, the Ergo is a great machine but ~$400 for the CCPM version. Get the Raptor 30 kit (~$250 49/bb kit) and if you stick with helis spend the extra $150 on fuel. Once you're hooked, I can almost guarantee that you'll have a second heli in less than a year anyway. Just my opinion.....

We have several new guys at our field that fly Ergo 30 CCPM heli's. I don't see any problem starting out with this heli. The Ergo is smoother than the Raptor in my opinion which helps a new pilot. Both are good helicopters. The Ergo has fewer moving parts due to the CCPM setup, Which means less maintance. I've seen guys replacing head parts in Raptors from wear and one Ergo has over 60 hours on it and the only thing replaced was a belt and thats because the owner never checked the belt tension and flew it with a too loose belt. Just my opinion of course. Either would be a good choice.

Ergo 30 CCPM is a good starter, with standard servos. If you can find
someone with one to teach you using a trainer cord, this sure can make
things easier. This can keep from crashing and keep your heli in one
piece. You can upgrade to a 50size motor, but you will need a new motor mount, fan, better servos. Than you could put on 600mm blades
and a long tail boom. It is a proven design, that will give you a good
starting point, to either upgrade or get a larger heli.
