All I can say is cool, way cool. That Raptor looks like it is a blast to fly to.

I am going to give those MA paddles a try on my Falcon also. Did you have a noticable difference in the roll rate with them? And what muffler did you end up liking the best with the OS 50.

Falcon Setup

Glenn & All,

Yes, that Raptor 60 is ALL carbon fiber(frames, boom, pretty much everything). It is very light (9.5 lbs) very precise and FAST!!!!!!! I sold my Fury 60 Expert for it and have been very pleased. It has a YS .61 ST2 with a Hatori 666 muffler and never misses a beat. I purchased the Falcon to protect the Raptor from over-abuse!! So far the Falcon has done great!!

As far as muffler and pipes go I have tried:
Century CN3033B
TT .50 Muffler
Curtis Muscle Pipe

I have decided to stick with the TT .50 muffler. It gives more than adequate power and has a nice mellow sound. Looks good too. I run Cool Power 30% because it is readily available, produces a killer smoke trail, and of course great power and cooling.

The MA White 3D paddles WILL liven up the cyclic. The roll rate is 360 degrees per second. Plenty fast. My current setup will do continuous tight tumbles with no bogging. I have been trying to learn funnels and it seems to keep up without any sign of bogging as well. One thing though, you really need to reduce the ATVs to prevent binding.

Reduced ATV, I have mine set up at 6 deg. Are you less than that? And did the TT muffler need any modification to fit? It does look much better that the century muffler. Bigger. I could see how it would let the engine breathe better.

I see GR8 has a TT muffler and Heli Proz has a TT muffler, both under the same part # pv0109, but they look like different mufflers. Where did you get your from?

Muffler

Glenn,
The muffler on my Falcon SE is part# PV0109. It is a direct fit. You can Dremel a little of the lower frame away for better clearance but I don't think it is necessary.

As far a cyclic pitch I don't remember my ATVs but I set it up for 6 degrees as well. All I know is that the swashplate will rub on the mainshaft under HIGH cyclic input if you don't watch it. Go to the corners and see if it binds. The head won't but the swashplate will.

Payton....

....There is ONE favor you could do for me in exchange for hosting those pixs for you.

HERE goes:

1. Could you explain to me (parts and part numbers, and where you got them) the entire process of upgrading your tail rotor. I finally just now got it as I was looking over you images with the HELICOPTER brain on and not the PHOTOGRAPHER brain like I did earlier. By the way, pretend I'm stupid and do is slow and step by step. YOU know how much I love step by step.

2. The little thingy between your boom supports, where did you get that???

3. Where did you get your boom supports and your carbon fin support and your carbon fins from??

I'm sure I'll think of more question later, but that will do for now.

Yours,

Kirk Voclain

gforce.

I’m curious about the dimensions of the mufflers in your post. They look remarkably close to century’s early 46 size muffler CN3033A and the new 50 size muffler 3033B.

I have been trying to fit one of my Hatori 666 mufflers to my new Falcon SE V2. Unfortunately without modifying the frame I don’t believe that it will work reliably.
In defeat I went down to the hobby shop to take a closer look at the Century mufflers. After comparing the CN3033A and CN3033B side by side. I was surprised to see that the B version of CN3033 is much longer then the A version with noticeably less back pressure. They also beefed up the header as it is thicker then the A version. I am wondering if anyone can comment on the performance of the B version of the CN3033. The B version is easily Identifiable as it has a seam near the outlet of the muffler, similar to the HTPV0109 muffler in gforces post the A version does not have this seam.

I was also wondering if anyone could provide dimensions to the TT 50 muffler

Mufflers

Kirk,
The part numbers for my upgrades are as follows:
1) Boom Supports - Mr. Carbon Universal Boom supports (carbon fiber). Comes with two carbon fiber shafts & alum ends:
Purple Boom Supports

2) Mr. Carbon X-Cell Fin set - Carbon fiber fins.
Mr. Carbon Fin set - X-Cell 60

3) DBC(D' Best Co) Alum boom clamp - Get the Kalt boom clamp. It is 20.5mm just like the Falcon boom! Remember this # 20.5mm.
Kalt boom clamp

4) KSJ Universal Boom clamp
KSJ Universal boom clamp #770

5) KSJ Boom Support Bridge
KSJ Support Bridge # 535

Now, regarding the tail modification read the topic GForce referred to and if you still have questions then post them there and I will clarify. Kewl????

Blazen,
I tried the CN3033B as my first muffler on the Falcon SE II. I was sorely disappointed in the performance. In case you didn't know the OS .50 needs to breath like a 60 to get it's available power. It will run fine on these "46/50" size mufflers but no where near it's potential. I had to drill a 3/8" hole through the internal baffle in the CN3033B to open it up for better flow and less backpressure. It had so much back pressure I had to lean the needles ALOT. After the drilling the muffler the power was like a somebody hooked up a nitrous oxide system. I was overspeeding at 12 degrees! I didn't keep it on because I wanted to find a muffler that would do it without the noise.

I did Dremel the frame out for my Hatori 666 and got it in there to bolt up but realized that the OS .50 uses 3mm bolts while the Hatori uses 4mm. I should have opened up the holes in the engine crankcase to 4mm but backed out. The Hatori 666 would probably be the best choice for the Falcon if you are willing to do the drilling and Dremeling.

I have since gone to the TT .50 muffler for the best all around performance and lowest modifications. I would stay away from the CN3033B or any other 46/50 size muffler
