quark3DNT Heliman Location: San Jose, CA
| Hi everyone,
What you have to realize is that Henseleit is a 2 person shop (father & son). Hence there is no big distribution system available at all. The only places where you can buy one is directly with Henseleit (www.henseleit.com) or from Revolution Models (http://www.revolutionmodels.co.uk
The price is around $1200 or 799 GBP.
The standard version is a left-hand rotation version which can use either the OS 91 SX or FX (bigger head preferred but not necessary) or the Webra 91 AAR.
The version sold outside Europe mainland (distributed by Revolution Models) is the right-hand roation version with a special OS 91 FX that has a right hand rotational crank.
This heli is also designed with European regulations in mind. This means low noise (it flies 3D with low engine and rotor rpm) and zero/low nitro fuel (the OS 91 FX with the Lötterle carb is designed for 0% nitro).
The "recommended" equipment might seem like a limitation but it's really not. The main reason for the recommended equipment is that Jan is an excellent 3D pilot and has spent a lot of time fine tuning his helicopters with endless variations in equipment. He's done what Jason Krause (and others) are still doing for MA and the Fury: Testing and seeing what works best. This is not to say you can't use different equipment but using what's recommended saves you time in trial and error. I use digital servos (9151 that have the same specs as the 9206) and still get 5 flights on a 1500mAH pack. I also use a 9253 for tail instead of the 9250 - it's been working flawlessly since April and I fly about 1 1/2 G/week.
There currently is a 3-5 month waiting list - it's never been any less since the model has been released, so if you want one immediately you can get lucky and see if Revolution Models currently has any in stock or resort to auctions. BTW, delivery is FAST. I ordered mine through Revolution Models on Tuesday and had it Friday in San Jose, CA.
Parts. You can order directly with Henseleit or Revolution Models. The prices are really reasonable. The good thing here too is that the model has very few parts and is very sturdy. Earlier posts show most of the parts needed in a crash and the prices for those.
The landing gear is designed to just shear off in case of a really hard langing. I've had that once and it worked perfectly. You just bolt it back on and you're in business again. The frame is nearly undistructable, as is the head. The motor fairs well even though it's mounted up front. The long canopy takes a lot off a hard frontal impact if there ever is one.
Hope this clears up some confusion of why you can't find a place that sells it.
