| The key here is to allow the controller to go through it's slow start routine to get the head spooled up...without interruption. I have a normal curve that is a very short ramp up to about 80%, 0, 80, 80, 80, 80. My Id1 curve is 100, 90, 80, 90, 100 and my Id2 is 100, 97, 95, 97, 100. My throttle hold is a flat line at 0.
The way I fly is to put the radio in normal mode with the stick down, plug in the batteries and wait for everything to boot up. Then I flip right into Id2 and advance the collective stick to zero degrees. I wait for the head to spool up and go fly. I auto down, completing the auto every time. What this means is the motor MUST stop turning before I again open the throttle. This is very important as you can defeat the slow start function if you don't do this. This can result in stripped gears and burnt speed controls. I do occationally mess around in the normal and Id1 modes, but most of the time I am in either Id2 or hold.
