What is everyone's prefered battery setup for the ion? all I have right now is a set of TP 8000s and a set of TP 6000s. Is there anything comparable to power of the TP 8000s, but weighs less? What do you like and why? Also, if everyone wouldnt mind, post some pics of your ion.

Use the TP 8000 and have only had minimal success. The max use before failure has been about 30 charges. TP will replace batteries but has very poor turnaround time (6-16 weeks). TP has finally built in cell balancing to the batteries, but I’m done paying to constantly update my batteries. My new favorite is Tanic 7350, 7500 or the 8800 do not have much experience with them but will keep everyone up to date. The Tanic taps will defiantly help keep the cells all balanced.

I believe the 7350 is about 2-3oz less per pack and the 7500 is about the same or and 1-2oz more.

Ion pack update

Thunder Power just released the ProLite series cell for Ion
Good news is that the new cell is the same weight as the Lite
The Lite pack from Eric has over 100 cycles now.
Both Chris and Eric are testing the ProLite pack now

We also have some videos of ProLite demo by Alan Szabo at MWE (rcgroups posted by Gary goodrum)

I keep hearing about all the cycles on TP batteries but no documented proof. I track every flight on my TP packs and have not been able to get over 30 charges on any of them, except for my 3s packs. I am currently tracking the use on my Tanic packs and will keep everyone up to date on my progress.

For what it's worth, I have had very good luck with TP batteries. The original Ion Gen2 packs were the only ones that I had any problems with. I had two sets of those. One pack had a slightly swelled cell after a couple of cycles on it. Surprisingly, that one was one of the stronger packs. Anyway, When the Lites came out, I sent them in and got upgraded. The Lites have been problem free for me.

I think one of the biggest issues is learning the idiosyncracies of electric stuff. I've been doing this for a while and have learned what to watch out for...weird stuff with chargers, etc. Sometimes it's the little things that can get you.

2)Lite pack about 100cycles, he still have the pack
3)Pro Lite 10cycles
