Seems the Mega 16/15/3 is the most popular motor to use but I have a 16/15/4 and was woundering if I can use that instead? Also do's the Trex come with the pinion gears that fit the Mega?

you can try it ...try a bigger pinion ...you might see more bogging and heat ...but it also depends on your flying style and heli setup /weight etc etc.. if you have it try it ..you can always add a cell to your pac later

Its not great on 3S as pinion is an issue - Out of the Rexy pinions, the 15T is your only choice but its still a low max headspeed of only 2100. Its a nice motor for 4S or even 5S (4S on 13T 5S on 11T).

On 3S it really needs a 17T pinion if you can find one. maybe save it for something else and just buy the el cheapo Align 2800kv LF (the newest motor). Performs well for the price.

The 16/15/4 works great on 3s. That is what I am running. A 16 tooth pinion is what you want to run. Headspeed will be around 2500 with the 315 woodies. runtime is 9-12 min. depending on flying style. Motor temps are around 140f and batt temps are at 100f.
You can find the 16 tooth pinion as a eco8 upgrade part.
