e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > What batteries fit ? Tanic 2220s don't

I just bought two Tanic 2220 3s packs for my Trex but there is no way they will fit with the canopy on.

I thought I saw that others were using this battery. As Thunder Powers are impossible to get I bought these instead. They are too wide to fit in the frames up snug to the motor. I loosened the frame screws and got them in but they are still too long to fit the canopy on.

The 2220's are molded to be long and narrow, great for a lot of applications but not this heli. Try the Tanic 1550s's, should be much better, I will be using these and perhaps the 1050's with some weight reduction to the heli.

? what?

dude...

those batts fit just fine... i just got done with 45 minutes worth of hovering using both TP 21's and Tanic Taps 2220's...

Firstly... you gotta make sure the tanics are in there all the way to the motor... put a small piece, about 8mm thick of styrofoam or foam padding on the batt holder tray of the frame (to lift the batt up a little)... then the batt will fit nicely into the deepest part of the canopy nose...

you will most certainly need to use a lighter to heat up the canopy in spots to create some space for the lingages that attach to the swash for free movement... (using the lighter to warm the canopy up turns it into moosh and you can freely manipulate the shape of the canopy to fit around the linkages' full travel)

keep at it a bit, but those batts DO FIT just fine in the canopy and many people are using them with good success....

i have no issues with their width either.. might need to just pry the side frames a wee-bit, but not too much at all..

hope that helps...

The guys around here use the Apogee 2480's with the canopy on and no mods. I think its lighter than the TP 2100 also?

well...

i think that would also have to make it lighter than the tanics... as i'm pretty sure they are heavier than the TP21's... thats alotta Mah's to be lighter than the 21's and 2220's... i'm impressed its its the case... how much these batts?

Okay,

I had a heat sink around my motor. Once I took it off, the battery was able to slide back far enough that I can get the canopy on.

Still, its a pretty chinzy set-up.
