prowler Heliman Location: Norman, OK
| I purchased the XRB SR last week, and have logged about 5 hours of stick time. It is truly a great heli to have. It can easily hover hands free upwards of 15 seconds now.
Additionally, the laminated blade mod does cure blade flex, and it makes the craft more responsive.
Anyhow, a friend posed the question of what is the service ceiling of the XRB?
I was doing a cross country flight from Oklahoma City to San Antonio yesterday and had plenty of free time to put this question to the test.
This test was done in our familys 1985 Piper Seneca III:
Indicated Altitude-11,000
Cabin Temp- Mid 70's
Density Altitude 10,300
Pressure 29.86
The Hirobo successfully lifted off my hand and did in fact hover @ 95% power, for two to three seconds. I did not attempt to fly it in the cabin risking damage, but I left impressed knowing that it can perform @ pretty high altitudes. FYI, most single engine aircraft have a service ceiling of 14-15,000 feet.
Cheers! |
