Way to act your age Doug. You're way too easy. Care to have another stab at it?

Has anyone else done the 4mm flybar upgrade? I just opened the bag and the flybar is indeed a 4mm bar but the cage only has a 3mm hole. I guess I'll be placing a call to Century tomorrow.

Yeah, Century really needs to work on their QC when putting their kits together. Get a hold of Antonio, he'll fix you up.

Will the CN2512 all metal head work on the Hawk?

Yes, but it's really designed for the Predator and is quite a bit larger than the Hawk/Raven/Falcon rotor head.

Ok. But I could do HW6176D with CN2232 right? But I can't use CN2297?

Not with the stock Hawk rotor head hub. To use the aluminum seesaw, you must also use the Raven/Falcon composite aluminum/plastic rotor head hub, HI3160D, along with spacers, screws from HI3167G, as well as two 3 X 7 mm ball bearings, CNBB0730.

The aluminum seesaw, CN2297, is an upgrade for the Raven/Falcon/Predators and assumes you have all of those spacers, bolts, and bearings from the original rotor heads from those machines.

What's the biggest blades you can run on the Hawk without using a longer boom? 570? 580? Will the os 37 with a Hitori pipe drive that big of a blade?

I've run 570's with no problems and the Toki 40 pulled them just fine. Have not run the OS 37, so I can't answer that question.

570's on the OS .37...

I was running 570's on a .37 until last Sunday. I wasted them, but they ran just fine. They were NHP 570's. I was getting at least 1800-1900 out of them.

Later...

Well I ended up with a set of Mavrikk G4 Pro 550s. Ran them till I tipped over on landing and broke 4" off the end of one of them. So I put a set of woodies togeather an balanced them.

Put it back into the air today. Its less responsive but I think its a little easier to fly for me. One of the more experienced guys at the field helped me set up my throttle curve. Works great now. I've got tomorrow off so I'm going to go burn some fuel tomorrow if its not too windy.

I practiced my hovering and landings tail in. I think tomorrow I'll do a little side in hovering and maybe some limited FF.

wellthis is a very late post but why arent you guys running the 6mm feathering shaft? i converted mine after a crash. it took the raptor 50 bearings a falcon shaft and 2 spacers from the raptor 50. it worksperfect and way better than the stock 4mm and the bearing are AWSOME!!

yeah i know now its hard to get a hawk IV or sport kit but if you wack one its a tip for the rebuild.

only you have the power to make no difference!

I'm running the 6mm spindle from the Raven that I got in the thrust bearing upgrade kit. I'm also using the hard red dampeners. Works great!

Hi Guys..just thought I'd itroduce myself being a new owner of a Hawk Pro. I bought it second hand and have since stripped it down and rebuilt it. Mainly so I could get to know it and make sure everything was together correctly. Good job I did as the tail rotor pitch change bearings were shot. One fell apart on me as I took it out!
I've had one or two problems getting the Irvine 36 running but I think I might be over the worse of that now. I'e just finished getting the throttle/ pitch sorted out and should be ready to go one the couple of engine issues are dealt with. It's fairly new and I'd like to run it in properly before taking to the air.

Oh I failed to mention that I've been flying a Walkera 22E for about 9 months. I know everybody says they are **** but I've been pretty successfull, although it is a bit of a handfull to fly. No silly 3D stuff just nice tidy figure eights...well I try to anyway. I understand that the Hawk should be fairly easy after the little monster. But then I don't intend to that for granted..one step at a time...I've got some vids of my flying about 4 months ago here:
http://www.putfile.com/johnag918/media

I have improved somewhat since then,,anyway heres my newly retored Hawk pro..

Looks good, but I hope you do realize that you are missing tailboom braces? At least in that picture...

looks nice.
you dont need a tailboom brace unless your flying a little agressive, so i dont think id worry to much about that.
i had a friend fly VERY aggresive with no brace and he was fine (xcell 60)

And another thing...

You might want to loose that black Century muffler. While it'll work, it's going to make the engine run hotter (mine did) than necessary and it's much louder than any of the normal torpedo mufflers for .30 sized engines.

Don't forget that the tailboom brace not only helps to hold that boom in position overall but also helps with respect to vibration. The tailboom is only held into the back of the Heli by pressure, the braces help to hold it there too.

And, think of what would happen with a landing where you landed a bit tail first. Without the support of the braces you are much more likely to flex the boom up which will cause a boom strike.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.
