Well after an extremely long wait of a few months for some essential parts I finally got my T-Rex hovering tonight. But this is a nightmare to get tracking well, Im sure its possible but Im having hell.

It seems that once she hits a certain headspeed, wham ! there she goes 2 inches out of track. I just cant figure it out, I have some purple links to fit which seem slightly tighter but Im not convinced they will eliminate the problem. Can anyone give me any specific tips with this particular bird ?

Check out the items I have for sale in the clasifieds including a CSM 420

agreed, the blade grips do have a decent amount of slop in them, do you best to balance the blades and the head if you can, that might help a bit... you could also try getting some raptor CNC tail blade grips if you are desperate, they also look really sharp :-)

Are you using the 335 blades? If so give up on the tracking these blades wont track! If not check the blade grips as others mentioned.
You also meay need fine pitch threaed link rods to get better adjustment to set tracking dead on.

They do look sharp but they don't help that much as the slop comes from two areas aother than the blade grips themselves.

sources 1: feathering shaft not snug in main blade holder bearings
fix: use a better fitting spindle like the one from http://www.sparrowproducts.com/inde...WPROD&ProdID=37
or you could use a Shogun spindle which is also a better fit

source 2: The damping on the main head block is too soft/loose
fix: read the second page of this thread http://runryder.com/helicopter/t153335

The new wood blades out on the Align website look like they might fix the tracking problems....the blades now have root reinforcements on them. This should help with getting the blades to fit properly in the grips.

In the mean while, I stripped the covering off the end of the blades. Then I wicked in thin CA. This made the surface hard so the grips would not crush it so easily. I filed the high spots on the inside of the grips so I had a flat surface.

I also added a thin washer between the plastic spacers and the o-rings on the feathering shaft to increase the area of pressure on the o-ring. This really snugged up the head. I used the green stuff between the grips and the bearings too.

The tracking is now dead on.

Cheap Upgrade.
