Finished the conversion and the change in flight characteristics is unbelievable. The precision is awesom and the heli seems to float and in general be less of a pig in the air at the same headspeed. I don't know why that is because the weight savings isn't that great, but it sure feels like it lost alot. I'm not thrilled with the swash ring I made (hacked it out late at night in a rush to get flying) and the quality of some of the parts in the kit, but overall thrilled with the conversion. You have to use your own hardware and it doesn't come with a swash ring. There are more pictures in my gallery if you're interested. I'd highly recommend the ccpm to anyone...I have a 1 converted and a 1 non converted.....but not for long!

The anti rotation arm and servo mounts are the kit from tppacks.com, the swash ring I made(poorly). I used a dremel to cut down a piece of stock and grind it to shape. Got my motor mount for the GBx motor today, it is really nice and fits well. Hopefully I'll get to fly it some now after all the work. Scratch that...I like the work too....can't imagine being in the hobby if you don't.

Yeah, not the best quality for $30! My spacers were OK, but I had to file the swash pin guide on the inside as it was very rough.

Also all the screw holes were too small for the recommended screws! I even broke the head off one of the selftapping screws trying to screw it in. Had to hammer it out...

Anyway heli flyes even nicer now after the CCPM conversion though.

Your pic was a bit dark -- here it is so we can see your Trex in all its glory.

yeah...I had to drill out every single hole. If it came with a swash ring drilled and the hardware (6 screws and 2 bolts and the servo balls) it wouldn't mind it as much. I didn't even use the spacers....fit ok without them. The canopy fits but it's snug, so I used some nylon bushings from my moth as spacers and it gave it a little extra room.

LADDY

paypal me $30 and it's on it's way. It will have all the holes drilled correctly so you can go fly instead of bashing it....you can fly right?

Laddy,

Why wouldn't I say something is not as good quality as it should be when I pay for it and see some faults????

Maybe you got one which was of better quality. This just shows my point. The quality is not consistent. Maybe it will be from now on but mine sure wasn't 100% good. Of course it can be made to work and fit well, it's just that I shouldn't be expected to do that if I pay $30 for a few alu parts. I mean how hard can it be to drill correct size hole on the things?

As I said heli flies great, but this doesn't change the fact I needed to spend more time doing the mod then I should have!

I think most of the manufacturers would be very happy with a customer like you. You would happily pay for a slighly defective/off spec item and then not complain about it.... But actually in the long run you wouldn't be that useful as complaining and giving useful feedback to the manufacturer is what improves the product!
