I'm still building mine, and don't get me wrong, the stock canopy is sweet-looking.

I'm asking this question for the future, since my goal is to learn 3D heli flight with the Trex, and the canopy stock is about an ounce of weight.

Anyone replace the stock canopy with the Zoom canopy (seems about half the weight)? Or another canopy? Or cut parts of the stock Trex canopy?

How much weight savings could be gained? I'm guessing a quarter to half-ounce could be saved by cutting back the canopy or replacing with a lighter one.

I really like how you cut that canopy out, looks real sharp. Hope you don't mind if I borrow the idea :P ...

I saw your pic in another thread, saved it to hd for future reference...nice job! How much weight do you think that took off the canopy?
