| DZZ400, not necessarily years. I was doing some inverted hovering yesterday. And this is after flying for only one year. I started flying an LMH last year at about this time. I put over 5 gallons through that little Norvel engine and then I traded a Piccolo for the Raptor I have right now. As a 30 size machine I put about 18 gallons through it. And since I have converted mine to a 50 I have put 13 more gallons through it.
Its all about stick time. If you don't get it you won't fly. Another big hint I learned was not to just go out for 1 or 2 flights. Its almost pointless unless your a pro. You need to stay out for a while so you get comfortable with the heli. Then you can try new things.
Also, when you start getting comfortable with the heli you stop learning. Always try to keep a slight level of discomfort.
Oh, I forgot to mention. This season is the first season I have ever seen anyone else fly. I also never got any help. Learned the whole thing myself.
