has anyone ever, or can you even put a voltage regulator on the heli to keep your power spot on the entire flight? (7 or so mins or hard flying)

hahahaha come on, this has to be possible

if you can do it for you rx, sx, etc... then why not the giant lithiums and motor?

Yeah, Shannon Davis did it with a GV-1. What you will have to do is set the headspeed for something down around 1650 or so. This will leave plenty of headroom for the control to work with. I caution though, that this is running the control at less than full throttle and thermal issues could cause a shutdown...be carefull.

could you do it at 2000 just use long legged gearing?

I think this is possible. You would be breaking new ground. Power levels can go quite high at that kind of rpm, overspeeding would not be an option as you might already be at other mechanical limits. The head is good to a bit more than that, I have spun it up at something over 2100, scarey stuff. Stay with lighter blades. Just watch things and be carefull.

Something else, you may want to wait a tad longer until we get to the 12S voltage level...coming soon.

ok... so in theory this is pheasable...

has it got to be a gv-1? you couldn't do a voltage regulator?

or is it more of we know the gv-1 will work?

Alistar,

You could have a custom voltage regulator built but you will encounter some problems. With the voltage and current our helis are pulling this thing will be pretty large. Also with the voltage deferential and current requirements it would also get pretty warm. This would more than likely add more RF to whole system also. Just a few things to consider.

so you'd have a regulator half the size of the ship??? lol
