Well I've been posting pics of all the different parts of my Sceadu for a while. Now that everything is put together again, I figured I'd post some pics of the whole assembled craft.

Please post any comments you may have, let me know if I've done anything stupid :P

There's some pics in there of the new aluminum TR assembly in which you can see the stock ball ends are a bit short and make the pitch slider sit at a wierd angle. It moves very freely without binding but does worry me. Anyone have a suggestion on a quick fix, where I can get some longer ball ends etc...??

Also, does the header tank look like it's in a decent position? It's about the only place I could find to mount it. It's making the machine a little tail heavy but not too bad.

All those shiny bits, but you are still using the stock muffler. I think the muffler should have been the first thing you changed. It would have had the best improvment for you.

Header tank mounting: I hae mine attached to the aft bolt on the 3rd bearing mount. Works great. Just an option

Why not add carbon fins and a carbon control rod for the tail too

Because If I added a carbon tail boom/fins I'd destroy them in my first and emminent crash hehe. I've been lucky so far and haven't crashed it through my hovering practices. I've been attempting to upgrade pieces which wouldn't normally break in a crash.

You're right though, a muffler would have been a great addition, especially since my neighbors are now complaining about the noise. I'm still confused as to which muffler I can get for a .32 which won't cost an arm and a leg, and will be quiet and easy to tune.

Nice looking heli. I have a Weston Pipe on my O.S. 32 and it purrs like a kitten. Was real easy to tune and alot quieter than the stock muffler.

I'd recomend the Hattori as it's one of the most quiet mufflers I have heard. It also is good at providing good power. It is expencive, but it is a worthy investment. I tried the knockoff T&T and it just wasn't as good. I also tried the century 3033 and it still couldn't hang with the hatori.

You said the neighbors are complaining. You might want to go find a field or school yard. Save the neighbors the pain on the ears.

As for crashing the carbon fins, I here ya, mine have survived a crash so I can't complain.

I think you might want to slow down on your upgrade path if you are till in the hovering stage. That tail will get tore all up in a crash. I don't think you want to loose those parts.

Any recommendations on where to buy a weston pipe?

As for the neighbors, yea I need to get to a field. The one behind our house is a little too small anyway.

One last question, does the Weston come with a gasket? Or do I even need one? The stock muffler doesn't use one.

Weston pipe.....

First I agree with Volkul about the muffler. Ditch that thing. I have used the Century 3033 for the 46 sized engines on my OS32 works real well and isn't too bad on the ears. However the Hatori's are much quieter.
The Weston is tuned for 15% fuel it doesn't run well on higher nitro. I have shyed away from it for that reason. My little 32 just dosen't have enough oomph for me on less than 30%. I also see some castor stains on that muffler so I assume you are using a non syntheic oil and I would do some research on how it will effect the Weston pipe. They tend to run a bit hot IMO with the tuned pipes and the oil content of your fuel may not be high enough to protect the engine properly. Again my opinion and just food for thought since I have no idea what you are running for fuel.
I would also loose the stock tail blades. I found they were very inefficent. The stock Freya blades work real well for me.
I like the aluminum tail blade grips where did you get them? Are they tighter than the stock ones on the tail hub?

THe manufacture recomends using epoxy as your gasket material. I have been using JB Weld for a couple years now and it works well.

Something to consider with the weston pipe. It's heavier than other mufflers. When you crash on one it twists the crap out of the engine and mount. This causes more damage than an normal muffler would. Just thought you might like to hear the argument against it. Oh and it's not much quiter than the stock muffler.

I've been wondering about the fuel situation as well. Very new to this hobby if you can't tell :P

The fuel my LHS (Not very local at 50 miles away) set me up with some pink colored Omega 15% fuel. Not sure if that is good/bad stuff. I'd like to order some Wildcat but the hazmat charges kind of shy me away from ordering online. Anyone know a shop near SF who sells it?

The aluminum tail rotor has none of the side to side wobbly slop that the stock unit had. I don't like the fact that it binds up if you tighten the end nuts also. It seems like it needs another spacer inside or something as I'm thinking under load the outward force will cause it to bind up the same as tightening the nut would. I'll investigate ASAP.

Jason,

You are running stock Freya blades? I was wondering how that would hold up. I have been running SAB 92mm and they give me tail authority! They are a wide blade design.

My theory is the problem lies with their assembly calling for the radial and thrust bearing being installed directly next to each other. I think the thrust bearing rubs on both the inner and outer race of the radial bearing, causing the friction when squeezed.

As for blades, I think I will leave them stock for now since I know I WILL break a set in the near future hehehe.
