| Hi folks, well I've been quiet for quite a while now but things have suddenly got moving again. The Jeti speed controller has arrived and THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! stephanuccio, I hope you will be delighted to know that I have purchased 2 of everything so that when the time comes you will be able to complete your Lama conversion with the minimum of hassle and with a set up that works and is tested! Cool!
They say that pictures speak a thousand words, so here they are.
You will note the last couple of pictures. Look at the mess my playroom gets in when I'm helicopter building. I am actually a very methodical person when I have a clear direction, but when in uncharted waters the **** hits the fan and I go into freefall thinking mode. This is the room in freefall thinking mode, note my little lathe in the corner. Oh yes and good listening to get in the right mood on my QUAD ESL 67 electrostatic speakers, good enough for the Beatles at Abby Road, good enough for me and definitely the best loudspeakers in the world!
Anyway the Lama HAS FLOWN! I use the word flown in the broadest sense. It has transpired that my carefully painted wooden blades are for the trash as one of the blades is 13grams heavier than the others BLOODY HELL!! Now the Lama 3 bladed head did not like this one bit and threatened to self-destruct if I pressed on. Undiscouraged by this and determined to get my Lama into the air before Boyd-Hoverup I did press on with my mission to get 6 inches of daylight between the ground and the underside of my Lama. Well it flew briefly and then I put it down. I have now ordered a matched set of blades ready for next time.
A brief flight assessment? Well it's noisy, very noisy in fact and it's powerful, OH YES!
Oh it's also noisy I think I may have said that but it is noisy and a bit scary.
I do jest folks this heli is a winner, the set up was all over the place horrendous infact but it flew, in that room and it seemed fine. So the upshot is new blades on the way and the we are GO FOR LUNCH, sorry LAUNCH. Watch this space and all the best.
