I've done an exhaustive search of this forum and have not come across anyone trying the Plettenburg motor in the ION.

12s3 LiPos?

Anyone have any thoughts?

Looks like the other choice is the Acro 24-4

The Actros can be installed now in the heli. The Plettenberg has not been tried, but looking at the numbers, the 25-10 would be a good choice. This needs to be done...I just have not had the opportunity yet.

12S can be done but only with the purchase of the Schultze 40-160 speed control. Not too many want to do that. But hold out a little longer, things are changin'...

Im not sure about the actro but the plettenberg 370/40/a2/heli seems to have less rpm (max 15000 rpm?) You should need deal with new gear relations if there is a big difference between both , and I think there is.

I've had the Plattenberg 25-10 on order since August. The last word from the importer is that Plattenberg has delayed production of the 25-10. It looks like the best that we can get from Plattenberg at the present is the 370/40 A2 Heli. This is the motor that comes with the new Joker 2 and looks like one serious chunk of go-power. It has an 8mm output shaft so I don't know what the situation would be concerning pinions for the ION. Would be interesting to try one out on 12S.

Yeah that big pop-can sized Plettenberg is bunch of motor. It's also quite expensive. I'm sure that I could get it in the Ion-X, adaptors can be made in pretty much any configuration.

We have run the higher turn Actro's on 12 and 14S with good success. Efficiencies go up a bit and temps generally go down. It's definately worth doing, we just need a decently priced speed control.
