Running a 9 tooth pinion on my chili pepper 3600 in my rex, the headspeed is around 2100 with 0,55,55,55,55 governor on my FF9 handset. The motor is running very hot though the battery is just luke warm even with zero pitch (No loading). I am using a heatsink. I may have to drop down to an 8 tooth pinion to see if this helps. Is anyone running the same motor out there and can give some advice? My pitch is at 10, 0, -10, but even at zero pitch this motor gets extremly hot.

I am using 1500 Kokam, phoenix 35, chili pepper 3600 on 9 tooth with heatsink, hs56's all round, Gy401, sbec for safety.

I have not used either governor mode, only fixed throttle. Keep testing so we can help others with this setup.

Hey get that Power curve up out of the mud and try 80% or higher and let the motor run at a better eff range.......I use 85 to 90%.....

That will cool things down a tad...

I tried increasing the range to around 65% then it seem thats the limit as the motor is flat out, head speed is around 2400 -2500, motor is still hot. But better. I will check to see if I am in high or low governor mode. That could be why its reaching its limit. Can't remember what I was using on the zoom that the speed controller came from. These rex's are twitchy little buggers, its been pissing down outside so had to fly in the kitchen, its like flying in a cardboard box.

The Chili Pepper 3600 with 9t works great for me. Check your tail belt tension. Motor temp will shoot up if it is too tight.

Thanks for that info tjohn I will re check the belt tension. What head speed are you finding works best?, my T-rex seems very unstable in a hover. I just tried a set of zoom Sab blades on the T-rex and it came to life, much faster collective response. I think the carbon sabs are not bending so much as the woodies. There seems alot of slop in the T-rex head, if that was sorted I am sure this heli would fly much better.

Chili Peppers can take the HEAT?

On their package is says that the Chili Pepper CP20 - 3600 can take the heat! I don't understand why for a $90 motor they didn't machine in a heat sink? Maybe because it doesn't need it?

I will be testing out another one shortly.

You dummys better pay attention to this or you'll be buying lots of $90 motors.

Right been out flying the T Rex around the garden today, I wound up the headspeed alot. I found the zoom SAB carbon blades pull much better climb outs. Its would be even better with longer carbon blades as the zoom ones are short like the ABS ones in the kit. The heli is now very stable in a hover now I have a higher headspeed. Had to have around 20 expo to make it feel nice around mid stick. The 9 tooth pinion is about right, the battery temps are spot on, just warm and the motor temp is not to bad atall. I re adjusted the belt as advised and yes this is a problem if you get it any where tight. The only thing I would say is maybe a 10 tooth would give you more headspeed as the castle creations speed controller is showing its at full throttle at just above lift off, led is lite all the time during flight. I cant wait for a CNC head for this little heli, it flies nice even with all that slop in those badly fitting links.
