| Let me add my delima.
I ordered a heli from hellahobby last year. I ordered the pro piccolo with the cnc upgrade, batteries, and just about every trick in the book. I think the total on the heli was like over 1000.00. I specifically explained to the staff "wont mention any names", that my experience was limited with set up, so i would like them to configure my radio for me. So i sent the radio to their builder some where in BF egypt.
I received the heli and it looked great. Yet it was so off balance and heavy that i doubted it would fly. I specifically stated that i needed to know any special instructions to starting the heli. And of coarse, there was not even as much as a note or reminder in the box. So i took the heli and tried to fly it. Disaster struck as the heli rolled over on its side upon lift off, the tail spun, and the blades struck the ground.
I had provided them with a GY240 gyro (brand new), they failed to tell me that the gyro had to be initiated before flying. And to add insult to injury they didnt want to fix the broken parts. And on top of that, i had found that the heli was not set up for throttle hold mode, so tricking was out of the question. So there i went, having to spend more than 100.00 on shipping, parts, and phone calls just to repair the heli.
They claimed 15 minutes of continuous flight, but i never experienced more than 9 minutes out of a 3 cell e-tech 1200 mah li poly pack.
Once i finally got the package back, i tried to fly once again. It flew like a turd. The pitch curves were so messed up that the heli barely left the ground. After taking the heli to a club meeting and having to spend another 50.00 to have set up, i decided to call helihobby and put in my two cents.
This is what i got for an answer. What are you talking about. the guy who set up your chopper is the best in the country, "How dare you talk about him like that". And then to add more Bs to the whole exuation, a staff member stated , "Its only a pro piccolo, do you know how many real helicopters i build for customers, that cost two to three times that much". Well at that point i had had it.
I advise all to buy with the confidence of using VISA or any other credit card that controlls fruad. I simply sent the heli back to the company, filled out the necessary forms with VISA and received all of my money back. Simply because they stated things that werent true on their site.
Next time your order anything off line from any company, use your credit cards. I know i learned a hard lesson, and even though it took me some 60 days to recover my loss, i did in deed recover every penny.
My opinion is this. I think it is better to support your local hobby guy. These internet companies whom state quality, dont even know the basis of the word. I have not had one lick of success with any on line companies. They like to state things that are just not true. probably because they really dont know. You may pay a little more for a part, and have to wait a bit longer, but at least you know what you are getting before you purchase it. Seeing is believing.
