Diehard,

Yes they certainly have. An interesting thing about it all is how the same "systems" keep reapearing in "new" designs.

Started in the EARLY 1970's. Flew Dubro Shark, Heli-Baby with Webra Speed 61 fixed pitch and looped that baby. NO Gyros. Also, Bill Youmans and myself flew Heli-Boys and "Home Brews" - i.e build your own, and competed on a national level during the 1970's. Bill passed away last July. He was the one that always had the right answer to your question and was a great friend. He did alot to improve this great sport.

I laid off for about 20 years and started flying again a little over a year ago after my retirement. I am currently flying a Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 - O.S. 50 Powered.

If you are ever in the Tampa, Florida area look me up and we will go flying.

OC Bob's Gathering #2 was a Premiere Event. Pictures in my Gallery

Started in 1979 on an old Kavan Allouette fixed pitch. Got 2 flights on it before hard landing and sewing thread tail boom came apart!
Kalt Baron 20/os 28 combo for about 3 months after that and had to quit due to funds and pissed off (now EX) wife. Been back into Heli’s since Sept. 2002. Didn't even need training gear to start back

And YES,.......... it's a lot easier to start in heli's these days!!! Great machines manufacturers are putting out.

Started messing with helis about 1972, I think, with a British Lark (a lot like the Cricket) , a Dubro Tristar, then a GMP Cricket, which I just sold yesterday.
I actually flew under control in 1990 or so with the Kyosho Concept, and have been off and on since 1994. I have my TSK Mystar and a new Piccolo. I have flown Xcell 50, 60s, 45, Pro, Kalt Enforcer, TSK Blackstar too.
