Where do I get servo braces for Futaba/hitec servos? Greg, I saw them on your Sceadu and some fury pics somebody else posted. Do I need them? Thanks.

servo plates

Almost any heli shop carries them, but I use the Thunder Tiger version.

These are made out of the same material as other more expensive versions, but cost less and you get enough to do the heli entire heli versus buying a pair of plates for one servo per package They are intended for the Raptors (30/60) but works just the same as any other higher priced plate. I find that the collective and cyclic servos benfit greatly. If you can't find them, let me know. Best of luck

Just not sure where to search... Tried looking through heliproz and rick's. Probably just need to call one of them and ask. If you know anyplace that has pictures online that would be great. Thanks.

The one that crazyjas is talking about is the same metal plates we get with the US Sceadu for the collective. What I have on mine is the JR servo output shaft support, it is a $12 piece and works great on my servos as it gives them lateral support that they lack otherwise, almost making it as strong as a push/pull mechanics. So the two are totally different!
The part number is JRPA225 Servo Output Supporter and you can search for it on HeliProz wwebsite by searching for "JRPA225".
Note that it has the RJ servo dimensions so chances are it will not work on Futaba servos, and I don't know if Futaba makes one for their servos or not.
The New Fury comes with something similar to these I don't know the part number on that one, they make both Futba and JR versions and some get shipped with them so you might be able to buy some off of JR fliers if they don't need the Futaba ones or vica versa.
I hope that helps!

I do very much appreciate the offer... To link Greg's site, what I am looking for are servo shaft supports simiilar to those seen on Greg's machine under the heading JR servo shaft support, but I want some for futaba or hitec servos.

Ahhh

Ok I understand. Shouldn't you be able to use the JR ones?

The holes on the JR and Futaba servos are slightly off, like on the Sceadu it comes with 2 hole locations for each servo to be able to mount both JR and Futaba in there. I think the JR are a little closer to one another......

With a little work, you might be able to widen the holes in the metal bracket so that it will fit the Futaba hole pattern. I'll try it tonight. In some cases, you can mount the aluminum standoff/ball on something else and eliminate the bracket. On my Freya, I drilled a hole in the
frame to mount the standoff/ball for the collective servo.

The only bad part about not mounting the stand-off to the bracket is that while the servo will flex horizontally the stand-off will not, making the distance non constant between the two. I know it is splitting hair, but just for the record

Where did you get your Thunder Tiger servo output braces?

I haven't run across them yet and I doubt JR has a set for the whole heli for around $20 even. I could be wrong though. ENLIGHTEN me fellas

Greg,

I'll see your split hair and raise you one.

I understand. You can also argue that the servo pot will be subjected to higher vibration levels since there is no vibration isolation between the frame and the output gear other than the plastic links. As for the slight flex, in the standard configuration the bracket for the standoff will move less than the servo itself since the bracket rides on the top of the rubber grommets, not on the inside like the servo mounting tabs. How's that for splitting hairs.

In all seriousness, it does eliminate slop and I haven't had any vibration problems. My wife has two Hawks that have a similar setup. The standoff is mounted to the frames, not the supplied bracket. In a crash, the link just pops off.

I got mine from ABSOLUTEHELIS.COM. I think I paid about half that of the JR's, and they are made out of the same material! Tell him I sent ya, he will know what you are referring about. Let me know if I can be more of help.
