I did'nt mean to start a feud here. Flyhelis that is a sweet looking machine regardless if it is true scale or not. S76, on Graupners site I can only find a Bell 230. Excuse my lack of knowledge but is that the same as a 222 or is there a 222 available that I cannot find on their site?

Moore or anyone what is right hand rotation? I am getting tired of asking stupid questions. Can you suggest some good web sites with faqs for newbie rc scale people.
Thanks

You may be right they may only make the 230 now.
They had a 222 at one time.
The difference is the engines the 222 had Lycoming
engines and the 230 has Allison engines.
You will see the difference in the exhaust ducts.
For the most part they are the same.
The 230 looks nicer just my opinion.
The rotation is which way the head spins LH/RH
Clockwise/Counterclockwise on the full scale.

Thanks Tin.

It may not be Top Gun Scale but it is 5 years old and has over 500 flights on it. It is my every day heli, I don't own a pod and boom machine.

Good for you flyhelis. you did a good job building and flying it
I saw many of those scale pilots, just flew it one in the blue moon.
Some of them is so critical to other person's works (talk is cheap). Everything is so relative in this world. Some say is true scale, that's a full of crap. If they make it true scale you can make those bird flies.
Not even Vario or Graupner close to true scale if you go by the book.
So this is only hobby(everyone call it TOY), just complement to each other and have some fun.

I would have to say that this bird is about as "true" scale as one will EVER get. But I might be wrong. Still this thing is cool. Give it a look see.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

You got that right. That is what I am talking about.
Talk is cheep if skyochin would read the posts nobody
criticized anyone. Fly got alot of complements on
the nice job he did even from me. And I will say it
again, nice job pal. Understand what you read
before you post. That is how trouble starts.

At $5000.00+ a pop for a scale heli is just a toy to you than you must be rich. I don't think most of the guys are that fortunate. Or are you one of those $500.00 scale guys? I guess your right I am just one of those guys. Thanks for the complement. You really need to read what you respond to. Sorry to you others guys. You see how it starts.
This thing is just getting out of hand now.
This is going to be my last post on this thread so you have a free ride now. I know when to give up. The horse is dead already.
Good luck guys!
I'm outta here.

$5,000.00 ???

Pre-built with radio equipment RTF then yes, I'de agree that a pilot could have about that much total investment into your very bitchen scale and/or semi-scale model helicopter. Not even a VARIO helicopter cost that much, the average is only about $2,800 in kit form the way I figure.

It is not hard to pass the $5000 mark easy.. I have ~ $7000 sunk into my Hirobo Dauphin.. Remember there is alot of electronics that can go into these birds. Most of it is overkill, but you can always keep talking yourself into a better servo, better gyro, governor, on-board starter, 4-blade heads, ect.. You will see one bird that looks almost the same as the next , and there might be a 2000-3000 difference inside.
That does not even begin to put a real price to the hours spent on the machines. I believe Len's Dauphin sold for well over $10,000 just fyi.

The last note - If you are flying your heli - good for you! , if you have added a sport scale fuse - good for you! If you are a master scaler - good for you! Just remember to enjoy the hobby, and help others injoy the hobby.

Just because I have been dumb/lucky enough to spend alot on a heli does not make it better/worse than anyone else's. It just makes it the way I wanted it. I am happy, and enjoy flying it. That is why we do this... RIGHT..

Have a great day!

I'd have to agree with the fact that they are really just toys. They are toys for big boys. So going by this account, is a ferrari not a toy? I mean, you can live just fine with a honda, so why get a ferrari? They are TOYS, but they are toys for big boys, or adults. Personally my favorite toys are women but seriously, r/c helicopters aren't really needed for daily life, unless they are your job. Some people work on toys! like in toy factories! So those of you who get tops in scale competitions, i'd say you are building toys, but you are building top of the line, high quality, superbly built and operating toys. Big boy's toys. (there actually is a company called BBT, Big Boys Toys, and they make very $$$$ 1/5 scale r/c cars).

So even for $5k, these helicopters are still just toys, just like Ferraris at $100K+ are toys.

Real helicopters, on the other hand, actually are made to do something for the world - like rescue people, put out fires, aid in transportation, etc. So I wouldn't consider THEM toys.
