I like to stay with TT for now and I've 60 kit that I would love to convert to gas power.
Did any one try that yet?

No it never has. If you want gas just get one of the gas models being produced. There was a thread on this awhile back.

excellent, I'm getting the specs on the engine but from what it looks like on the freya pics,it's almost a direct fit.

I've decided to go ahead with the project.
Main objective is to keep it simple so others can follow if I succeed.
I should have a prototype ready within 3 weeks.
Now I got to go to work so I can pay the millwright.

Hi!
I have a MVVS 1.6 in a plane (2m Funtana). I think it is a great idea for a heli conversion. Beware that this engine is pretty tight when new, and needs a gallon of running in before it really performs. A lot of advice on the engine may be had at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1.../tm.htm#1079866

Raptor 60 fan info wanted.

Does anyone know what is the speed of air exiting stock fan at hover (14000 to 15000 rpm) and what air volume is that fan pushing?

I don't know exactly the speed, but Ray's authoritve book has a section on fans. They tested 8 different fans (none of them were raptor) and at 1400 they were between 22 and 37 Vmph. Most were in the upper 20's. I don't know if this helps. DOC

Coolheli, I got my R90 and have started the conversion to gas. I made spacers from 3/8" bar stock to move out the outside frames.
Check out my post in Gassers

Most of the parts arrived by now so my work on the project could move forward a bit, well that what I thought. The reality is totally different. After careful calculation and lot of research I found out that there is no way that the raptor stock fan or even the metal upgrade fan will provide air volume needed to cool the gas engine. With some modifications to fan and shroud we were able to push the air at about 35 mph and got about 20% increase in air volume(over the stock) but that isn't even close to what the MVVS is asking for.According to engineers I'll have to double the air volume to coupe with increased running temps.of gas engine and lower cooling area of plane engine head. Therefore tomorrow I'm ordering Bergen cooling fan and shroud. With increased size of the fan I hope to be able to push enough air to stay within the operating temp.range.Engine break in will start on Tuesday.

I'll post some pics soon but I don't want to do it until I'm sure that what I've done is going to work.I wouldn't like to mislead people (have them buy parts or better yet start cutting them)
So far I can tell you that my lower frames are spaced 3mm on each side to give me 68mm opening in the engine bay.Shroud is modified to accommodate bigger fan but that will probably change as I'm not happy with results. The new idea (my daughter came up with) is to use two fans, second one inverted. This way I'll suck the air from top and bottom of the engine shaft.

I had to postpone the engine brake in do to weather but I hope to run 2 or 3 tanks thru it tomorrow.Mind you I'm not use to getting 30min on tank.

I needed little more room inside the frame so I used locknuts that are 4.75mm thick as spacers on each side. Now the inside opening is 71.5mm

Bergen cooling fan and hub (slightly modified) is used

Custom clutch bell with the post 13mm higher than stock to allow for gear clearance and proper clutch position.

Simple two piece engine mount.
