i dont too much care for their kits
i know a couple of people who have built them, and they say you never get everything you need to finish the heli..
there are usually some more parts to buy, and they are pretty expensive from what ive seen.
i am building what is supposed one of the hardest heims there is.
the bell 230 w/retracts...
its not an easy task, but i dont think the word easy and scale go together.
all i can say is that the quality in this model is excellent.
the fuse was perfect, never found one pin hole.
all the wood is real plywood, and everything went together with just minor alterations. i plan to paint mine, but it is not necessary, you can just build it, decal it, and fly it. ITS ABOUT HAVING FUN!.
if you want to see some scale cockpits for the heim helis, then go to the speacial interest section on the v-east site.
my ultrastar 2000 was the smoothess heli i have ever hovered, and that is the doner for the mechs for my 230, im sure it will be a great flying machine.
i also have an agusta a-109 power that i plan to do in an electric configuration. ( i may not paint this one).
remember.... all graupner's mechs. are very versatile and can be used in a variety of different installations and assemblies according to your specific needs and desires. scale opennings are possible with any of their fuse kits if you have the skills to build them. Sandy at v-east is very helpfull with any questions or ideas you have bout your project, and has spent hours on the phone helping me along the way with my 230.
as for the comment about the tooling being outdated, i think the uni-2000 mechs. were just made in 2000 hence the name.
good luck with whatever project you decide to take on, but as i said before, scale detail is an art, and is not easy...
and this hobby is about having fun.
