e-Electric Conversions > smallest lipo battery for a 30 size convertion

With the current 10C-12C lipo technology what is the minimum size lipo pack for a 30-size lightened conversion (raptor+eccpm, hawk+eccpm, raven) ? I do NOT need a rocket ship - I need a soft 3D trainer on a budget. I have considered 20-cell NiMH setup but I already have an astro 109 lipo charger and no NiMH one.

My other helis (Pic Fun and Shogun) hover at about 45W/lb, scaling it to a 7lb 30-size it should be ~350W at hover (without pushing head speed too much). For a mild 3D I want to have 3x that power at 12C. Technically 6s2p 4000mah pack should give 1kW at 12C. Do you think it is doable?

(I also considered Logo 10 as a lighter alternative but I know I will crash a lot and need to keep repair costs under control)

I think your logic is correct, in analyzing the required battery. I'd allow a little more room though, becuase you're already running packs hard ( most don't really like 12c). if you go to tppacks.com you can look at many different pack options. I'd think something like 6s3p would be good. also, when I bought a logo 20, I was warned about all the repair costs, and, although the cost is higher, I don't think that is such a big deal ( maybe a buck a part?) the annoying thing is waiting for parts, and paying for shipping. that adds up. not sure if you are interested, but I'm going to be selling my logo 20 actually.

The info on conversions that I've found so far indicate that W/lb is higher for bigger birds. The reasons I can see are higher disk loading
(shogun is ~1.6 kg/m^2 vs. raven 50 ~2.5 kg/m^2), higher tip spead at comparable head rpm (operating at a higher Reynolds number) and a tendency to run very high head spead in general to achieve ultimate 3D performance. I am curious what is the minimum really needed to get the baseline 3d trainer (30/50 size) not intended for drag racing or 3D competition.
