UAV Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles > Question for NRI- M Fouche

I have been keeping up with the Autocopter developments for the past year and am very pleased with the progress you are making with it. I just have a question for you... I am a police officer who may consider bringing it up to my dept. chief and I have a couple of questions. I was wondering what your current top forward speed is during semi-autonomous operation. It seems logical to me that in order to do a search for suspects on foot, etc. I'd like it to be able to go at least 30MPH. All the video's I've seen of it seem to keep it slow. I understand that excessive speed could challenge it's "brain" and that may reduce the safety margin, I am just curious as to speed at this point.

Also has testing been done to try to include an HID spotlight to tilt in tandem with a camera for night operations? Although we have a thermal imager that could be mounted on it and would be effective for a night search, there are times when the use of an aerial spotlight could be effective to cause a suspect to give up when located. Below are a couple of links to what I am referring to as far as HID lighting(12vdc 35 watt requirement).

OK, thanks. Basically at this point I am going to get into the heliphoto business in the near future, although I've been operating heli's to take pictures recreationally over the past year. I think it would be appropriate for me to wait until I have some paid business going in the area with a business license before approaching the PD administration regarding purchasing such a system as yours. They might take it more seriously if they recognize that I am "in the business" in a few months rather than now.
As far as lighting goes, cops sometimes find it challenging to effectively locate suspects that have been thermally located and announced over radio by a hilltop spotter with the thermal imager due to lack of lighting and good cover by the suspect. Putting 7mil. candlepower of light on the suspect however does change that. The 35 watt-12 volt requirement may be a challenge for a G-26 or G52 twin, I do not know. Sullivan may come up with a more powerful generator than their 800MW system to power this. When it comes to tractors and generators generally 1 HP runs 500 watts, I am not sure if that ratio applies to this form of power generation. The flashlight version of the HID light is 6lbs and runs 70 minutes w/o power needs, that is the other option.

Thanks for the reply.
