Know one who run last year with the same OS 21 RG(P) (3000-40000 rpm – 2.3 HP vid 30000 rpm) he have 2.000 rpm at the mainrotor. The engine runs at aprox 28000 - 30000 rpm at 2.000 rpm. As far as I know he haven´t done anything with the engine for this year.

There isn't any diff between a .32 size engine for a heli or a .21-.26 for a car except the cooling head and carb. You could get a 32 to turn 30K easy or make a .21 only turn 16K like the 32. The .32 could be used in a car too,i forgot the name of the company but they use a .70 ringed heli engine in one of their monster trucks,no prob.

I'm mostly into cars .21's but i've been tinkerin with heli's so i know about the .21,screaming engines. If you use one in a heli nothin says you have to run it 30K(only if you want that peak hp) The .21 are just ported more for the higher rpm. They'll run fine at lower rpms, but it won't compare to a larger displacement .32 heli engine at the same RPM,only because of the displacement, not the engine itself.

Some porting and crank work on a .32 heli engine put in a car would be to fast to handle.

you would be better-off using RC boat racing motors, change the head and off you go, RC boat motors come in the size you need 35, 45, 80, 90, and they put out more RPMs than a heli motor...

Hmm you want to try a car engine in a heli? Try using an OS.40fs-c(fourstroke), or you can go for the pull start if you want. Spools up to 20,000rpm @ aprox .9hp, All i know is that it rocks in my truck.

Heli engines are designed for more torque. HP is just a formula, showing work. The higher the rpm, the higher the HP for a constant torque. The .21 car engines have impressive HP numbers due to their high rpm, but their powerband is very narrow. Heli's need a wide torque curve to hold headspeed throughout the pitch range. That, and some serious gearing is required at 30,000 rpm that a car engine spins....

Helis should run at a constant head speed through any stunt or flying shouldn't they? So a narrow powerband dose not matter.

Anyway, I race RC cars and the 1:8 rallycross cars run .21 engines. They only have a single speed gearbox, and they pull hard from standstill all the way through to 60mph+

In championships the cars run non stop for 60min on the thrash, only stopping for fuel.

As for low torque/high RPM, just gear it down.

PS Im not a heli pro, so the above is just a thought.

I guess I'll post my 2 cents worth also...I guess it'd be alright to run the car engine in a heli...for DRAG RACES...because they only last...how long?? 5-6 seconds...max?? Then they're back on the ground. I know I wouldn't run a car engine in my 3D machine...I'd be autoing every flight...!! Like I said, just my 2 cents...
