I can get my hands on a Hirobo falcon, the same as the oldtimer in the pics, what would be a fair price to pay for it? it's complete with radio and servos

Hi Don,

Looks like the Hirobo Falcon 505 with the 555 main rotor installed. You're missing a vital part if you intend to fly it with that rotor head. The part is the "washout unit" that clamps to the mainshaft directly above the swashplate. This washout provides a means of driving the inner portion of the swash so it follows the mainshaft and also gives a pickoff point needed to connect to the side of the flybar, giving input to change the pitch of the paddles.

Your mainshaft is 8mm but most of the washout centre holes are 10mm. There's a sleeve used to take up the space and would be easy to make if you can't find the "real" part.

You have a lot of work ahead of you. Have fun and rebuild EVERYTHING.

So many heli's - too little time...

Don,

That is a Falcon 707, circa 1980-1982.

The "I" levers have been flipped upside down and the servo trays are somewhat butchered. Washout control and rubber boot are missing from just above main rotor shaft.

Should have a large "toaster-like" yellow canopy on it.

I flew one fore several years, before converting it to an 808.

Good flying machine.

Don...yes as RAK402 says....that's a 707 there (or later variant) I just built an NIB Falcon 505 and the 505 has a more primitive mixing lever arrangement, different swash and different head, but the same red anodized frames.

To answer samboyzx10's question as to current price / value, here is the very latest comp to come off the auction block (a pretty complete 505):

Just sold for 140 GBP. Convert to your currency.

hi RAK402
"The "I" levers have been flipped upsidedown" ???
sorry not with you on this term!
this may be longer build than at first estimated then, thought perhaps a year or so, --winter project--
all comments welcome as are any pics of complete setups :-)

I believe he is referring to what Hirobo calls the "Collect Pitch Lever (A)" appearing on page 7 of the assembly manual:

http://www.1017.org/competitor/falcon505manual.pdf

These are flipped upside down compared to the later GMP helis.

hi marcw
thanks for the pointer to manual, been looking for one,
the helli is a bit butcherd and been lying in a shed for 10 years, so is in 'as found' condition in pic,
yes lots missing or sustituted from origional, brocken frame at base from engine vibes,-- may have to try building as - mix and match - now, unless someone got a severly crash damaged one out there somewhere.
