I have one question also... most electrocution that kills, is when electricity flows from say your finger, through your body, out your feet, so basically you are acting as a ground. If you, with your super wet hands, touch some exposed connectors with one hand, would the current simply flow from one finger to another, versus from your hand out your feet? so, worst case, is you shock the heck out of your hand?

Sorry if this is somewhat off-topic.

If you want max. performance, then there might be better options than a Fury Ion.

My completely stock 3D-MP weighs less than 7lbs and has 2100 Watts peak power (flight recorder). Smooth as silk. Flight time is 8 to 16 mins, depending on flying style.

Yup, that's pretty off topic. But since you brought it up...how well does it do in say a 10 to 20 mph breeze? Can you see it well at 100 yards? 200? How is the auto performance? Parts availability?

By the way, the out of box "Hacker" setup that comes with the Ion-X will produce well in excess of that mentioned and the Actro and LRK setups even more. Same flight time, dependant upon flying style and setup. And of course, as with all electrics....smooth.

I can only compare it to my Joker (alos on LiPos) and it's definitely better.

According to the flight recorder, the highest flight so far was 200 meters. It's pretty hard to see at that distance, 1.35m is definitely smaller than 1.5 or 1.6m

It is what you'd expect from any .50 size helicopter. Not as much reserve as the Joker or the Ion.

Interesting as usually the smaller choppers do not do as well in wind.

Yup, a tiny canopy disappears at distance...

In the last five years, I think I have seen half a dozen of Jan's helis over here...two of those were just visiting from Britain. Never seen one in a hobby shop. Maybe they are more prevalent over on the west coast but around here and in the midwest, they are almost unknown. Jokers are more common although not typically flown aggressively.

Yeah, gears are noisy. The single stage setup in the Ion-X reduces gear noise a great deal. Of course the MP uses a belt driven tail, which is quieter still. This is easy to do but not as well accepted over here. I like the helical gear idea. Our new open tail box may be quieter, I'll have to check that out as I'm not sure...haven't put one on an Ion-X...yet.

Of course you're right. It seems unlikely that a .50 class heli would handle wind better than the Joker. I believe it has to do with the abundance of power and the good aerodynamics. It's so controllable, you really don't need to worry about the wind. (Except when you set it down - it's very low, and the landing skids are small and narrow. Definitely not suitable for beginners.)

Our measurements show that it has a little more power than a .90 class IC at 3.3kG AUW.

It's a pity that Jan doesn't actively sell in America. I'm sure you have a lot of pilots over there who would appreciate his superb craftsmanship and "reduce to the max" philosophy.

If you put the MP next to the Fury Ion, it really makes you think what all those parts (and weight) are good for...

Tony,

I know what you mean, some of you guys have developed a rather aggressive flying style...

Personally, I'm probably not as good a flyer as many here on this board. I can do clean and fast aerobatics and some basic 3D, but that's about it. Currently practicing clovers, death spirals and tic-tocs, but still way to go...

Having said that, it is obvious that both the Ion and the 3D-MP are capable of much more than I would dare to try.

The Joker is very sooooooft indeed, even for my taste.

I would really love to meet someone with a Fury Ion and fly the MP and the Ion together, what a blast! Too bad they aren't popular over here.

Next time you're in Germany, let me know!

So kind of back to the question that airwolfRC asked, as I too would like to know what this would do.

???? Is this possible ,,and would the two motors run as long off the same battery as one would ????
