Look for '1 shore ave, stow, ma' and then
zoom out a bit.

Really though, helimitch's directions are very
accurate. Go past the Stow shopping center,
right onto White Pond, over the river to the
fence, make a right and take the dirt road to
the end.

about 50-60 or so.

it's a pretty low energy event historically w/o
much in the way of prizes, competitions, etc.

Just a big get together. I don't find it all that
inspiring except for those nutty Massheli people
but it isn't much of a travel so I usually attend.

LOW ENERGY EVENT!!!!!

z11355
I don't understand that! Every funfly I attend is low energy that is why we attend funfly's. To relax and have fun. Sounds like you are bashing this event. If not then I apolagize! But it doesn't sound very good! As far as the prizes I think this is just to grab people to attend funflys. Never did care for getting a prize to attend a funfly!!!! I attend around 15 funfly's a season planes and heli only one or two give prizes. I never sit around and wait to win a gift. There is more to the funflys events than that. Competions I hardly see any kind of competions at any funfly. Once again are we there to impress people or to have fun??? All in all I go to what ever funfly to have fun and meet up with people that I don't see often!!!! It does not matter how LOW ENERGY the funfly is.

Fun Fly Prize!!

A carrot in front of a donkey gets the donkeys attention. I think this is the general Idea behind this ploy. However, I feel that a fun fly can be fun based upon its own merrits.
I would not get so easily rattled by peoples comments. Everyone has different points of view, since everyone at a fun fly, is at some different kind of level of flying.
I have heard alot of good things about your fun fly, and I think you should stand by that point of view.(not that I am telling you what to do!). Let the negative go with the positive, and people will decide for themselves wether your funfly event is good.
Last year I was at an event, and some people complained about the judges. THOSE WERE THE PEOPLE WHO COULDN'T FLY, IF THERE LIVES DEPENDED ON IT.
Hopes this makes you feel better!!

FUN FLY

I don't know about some people but I am looking forward to attending this FUN FLY. It will give me a chance to meet other experienced pilots and hopefully pick up some tips on helis. This is a great venu for new, beginer, an experienced pilots. If you are looking for a door prize then I hope it is found, but if you go to have fun, then that's what you'll find. I have heard nothing but good things about Crow Island. FUN is what you make it. I plan on having fun I hope you do too.

Crow Island is a great time. I'm looking forward to it again this year.

I do have to agree with Z11355 on one point. If you plan on swimming it's a good idea to go with another person. Helimitch, the swimming area is only about 75 feet and no more than 100 feet from Flight Station two pilot. The helis do over fly the swimming area sometimes and a bird or two has been dropped in the water. If you have a couple of sets of eyes keeping track of what the helis are doing however you'll be fine though. I haven't had any trouble swimming there. The water is nice and clear. But I do keep an eye out for the heli on station 2 though.

Crow Island

I attended day one of the Crow Island fun fly and I must say that it was everything that I expected and more! There were lots of great flyers, a few mishaps, and the weather held out almost all of today! This is a great event with lots of pilots willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Thanks Tom from Cape Cod for helping with my radio setup on my Raptor. If you missed it today there's always tomorrow...this is the place to be especially for newbies!! I 'm already looking forward to next year.
