| Yea definitely 7 or 8 cell set up will be much better. When I had my Corona, I tried 6 cells for a while and the run times stank.
I ran an AstroFlight 020 4t and Hacker 40-3p with great success, I had a Phoenix 35 but had bad glitching probs. so I switched to the Hacker and the probs disappeared, stock pinion and 7 cells. I got roughly 10 minutes of hover and some ff. The power was good also. (some people had probs with this motor so I'm not sure it would be the most confident choice unfortunately)
I also ran Hacker 12s with Kontronik Smile esc and stock pinion on 7 cells, I got a little more power than my previous set up and the flight times were similar.
A Mega 16/5/3 is also popular with 8 cells and stock pinion.
Like askman stated, there's a whole bunch of choices, you just have to match it up to the correct pinion and cell count.
Depends on what you're looking for whether it be duration, power or price etc...
As far as esc's, I believe Hacker Master's are the best for the price, I ran them in a Corona, Logo 10 and Eolo with not even so much as a single noticeable glitch or anything. Kontronik's and Schulze are supposed to be pretty much the best if you don't mind spending the extra duckets, I just got a Jazz myself I've had probs with Phoenix's and heard of too many others that have glitching and cut off probs so I'd personally stay away from those. I did however have a Phoenix 10 in my Hbird with no problems at all, in fact, I haven't really heard of any probs with the 10. I think it's mainly the 35 and 45 that I hear most of the problems with... Oh well, just my opinion with my personaly experience, everybody will differ...
Maybe if you can post what you'd like to spend on a brushless motor and controller and what you're looking for whether it be duration or more towards power, we can help point out some specific combos? |
