I just put together my torqmaster90 with 2 1700 packs. Not sure if the charger is bad or the batteries but I have no torq and it runs out of juice fast. Should it be simular to connecting to a small 12vt battery? How long should a charge last? should it be easy to hold the shaft and hit the power and hold it back?

Thanks

You need to wire the batteries to produce 14.4 volts. Each battery will need to be charged separately using a tipical R/C car charger at around 3 to 4 amps for best results. Her is a couple pics.

I wired them right. The problem seem to be the batteries. I can't get them to take a charge. They are new and the two chargers I've tried keep going into auto shut off. I charger I'm using now blinks indicating bad bats. I still haven't got an initial charge

It sounds to me like your using a peak detector charger and the batteries are false peaking. This is common in some packs. Look around for a cheap charger that has a timer and start the charge for around 5 mimutes or so on that charger and then switch to your peak detector to see if the cells will take a charge.

Rado Shack has a cheap charger with a timer that will work. The one is pretty nice for the price. http://www.radioshack.com/product.a...t%5Fid=23%2D440

yes , I agree radio shack has the batteries and chargers, amongst other items like led's, strobes, 5v regulators etc ... my heli friends work with RS and reccomended items that work with with heli equip. I bought 2 short size dark grey batteries with charger .. 2, 12v-4amp batteries for starting the heli , it was kicking .. just one batt was enough to start the heli .. these are very small short batteries units , but powerful, RS is a good source .. check them out ..

This is the charger I have. http://www.radioshack.com/product.a...t%5Fid=23%2D440

It charges for a few minutes and then starts to blink. I keep repluging it in and it is starting to get a charge. What a pain though. When I had a car a few years back I had one the dial fast chargers. 15 mins and full charge hot batteries and all. I'm sure that isn't good for the batteries but at least it charged them. I just want a full charge.

Thanks

The link is not working, it's ok for a nicad to become warm when charging but not hot. They tend to warm as they reach full and start to over charge. A peak detector would be best to use but the one you have is probably detecting false peaks as I said before. You will need to opt for another charger of some sort.
