Those AAC piston/sleeve assemblies are the cat's ass. He was out of production on them for quite a while, but apparently they are back. Good deal.
The Evil Empire will sell you a genuine OS ring for $22; I just put one, and a set of bearings, into my 61 SX. If the piston and sleeve are still good, you can sometimes re-vitalize a worn engine with just a ring. I'm talking about light wear, such as that caused by flecks of bearing rust going up through the engine and scrubbing the ring. Heavy wear, from abuse or just plain a lot of running, will need all three; piston, ring, & liner. At OS prices, you would be foolish NOT to get a Shadel kit if all three need replacing.
