USPS

The day before Christmas I had a couple of Priority Packages being delivered (presents for my Helis) Around 10AM 1 was delivered, I thought OK maybe the other got held up somewhere and I would get it on Monday, no biggie.
2 hours later I get a knock at my door, and some guy asks me who I am, so I tell him, he says " I've got a package for you, I found it in the street 1 mile from here". WTF. Apparently it fell out of the USPS truck along the way to my house.
Fortunately all the contents were intact.
Thanks to the guy who picked it up!!!!
NO Thanks to USPS.

That's what you get for living in a warm climate, our drivers keep their doors closed this time of year. Ups delivered me a set of wheels in September...three boxes. Box 2 of 3 and box 3 of 3 showed up on one day and box 1 of 3 showed up three days later. Needless to say, they were all shipped together. As I said...they will all get us eventually.

Did you know that the extra 40 cents on the confirmation helps out a lot?

I did a few tests with certain packages to family members and such. Sent a package with the 40 cents confirmation so it had the tracking number. It took 2 days as told by the internet domestic shipping rates.

Sent it without the 40 cents another time and took 3 days and the other package i sent without the confirmation actualy took 5 days!

I called USPS up and told them whats the ad about were it says 2-3 days garanteed. They denied the garantee so maybe I read something wrong?

Either way I decided to do another test. 2 packages at the same place and location at the same time one with tracking and one without. (had 2 different people do it) turns out the one without tracking was a day late (third day).

This isnt a proven theory (lol) but from my little tests, the 40 cents proved to be more of a help than paying just that 4-5 dollars.

Not aware of that, but may have to try it. The only thing wrong with confirmation, is that someone has to be there to sign for it. I guess that's ok since I usually ship with insurance anyway. I wonder if that has anything to do with the reason I rarely have problems? Insurance and signature...confirmation and signature? Who knows...go figure.

No, delivery confirmation doesn't require a signature. You just get an indication that the package was delivered. You have to pay an ADDITIONAL fee to get signature required.

Which leads into my USPS story of when a package WITH delivery confirmation was delivered to a city 25 miles up the road! The information online showed that it had been delivered to Roanoke and I live in Blacksburg. The Post Office couldn't tell me why this had occurred or where the package had been delivered to. Both the shipper and I were mystified as the package definitely had my address on it. I know this because it showed up at my door 2 weeks later! What the heck? Never got an explanation on that one.

Delivery confirmation does not affect the speed in which mail travels. Delivery confirmation ONLY confirms delivery. First Class (letters or pieces under 13 ounces), Priority (mail pieces 13 ounces and over) travel at the same rate with an ESTIMATED delivery time of 2-3 Days. If you purchase an additional service (delivery confirmation, signature confirrmation, insurance etc) it will travel at the same speed. Express mail is the only mail USPS has that is TRACKABLE and has a guaranteed delivery time.

heh well as I said, it was just my tests. So far all of the transactions I have done were completed within 2 days after the Money had been received with the confirmation. Guess I am the lucky one out of the crowd.
