Hi,

I am having trouble with my tilt servo it is geared down to a 4:1 ratio and I have not modified it at all. It is also just a standard servo and is not digital.

When I tilt the camera up and down it giggles (shakes a little while it is moving) is this characteristic of the servo or is it normal and what can be done to fix it?

All help will be appreciated.

Cheers Kimberley Attwell

Hi Kima,

I use 5:1 reduction by means of timing belts and gears. I am using a 5K external resistor pot (not servos own pot). The whole thing works very smooth. There should be no play between the gears and the pot.

How much does your tilt axiss move (degrees)???

What do you mean by servo with 4:1 ratio gear down???

What do you get if you have not done any modifications to a standart servo???

Cheers,
Ahmet

Hi Ahmet,

The 4:1 is the reduction gearing and the tilt axis moves about 30 degrees. But i am looking at increasing this. I think i am going to have to get a better servo.

Can you sugest a servo that would be suitable for the job?
cheers kima
