I own three 90 machines, however there is a lack of fuel lately (here in Peru). Also, my very best heli is the Fury Extreme.

If the Ion flies like the Fury and no fuel required, my problems are solved.

I know that Ion comes with motor and speed controler, now my two questions are:

- Which battery pack to use (li-pos?) and where in the web world can I buy it. Do I have to build my own packs?
- Which battery charger do I have to buy and where.

I'm new on electric helis, so any help will be apreciated.

Hello Luis, I am no expert but I have read a bit about the Ion-X. From what I can tell it requires 2 x 5 series cell LiPo packs , one mounted on each side of the frame. These can be either 3p or 4p (6000mAh giving 9-12 minutes or 8000mAh giving 12-18 minutes).

Remember you will need two of them!

Also you may want to compare with Thunder Power 5s4p packs

You will obviously require a charger with a specific 5 cell LiPo charging capability. From what I have read here on RR the favourites are the Orbit Microlader Pro or the Schulze 330d. You can find both here:

As a note -

The OEM packs (6000 mAh and 8000 mAh) which Miniature and their dealer/distributor network offer are custom built for the Ion by Thunder Power. These are built with the new 10C capable TP cells which are already proven to be more powerful than any available Tanic or Flightpower packs. They are also more powerful than the previous 5S4P Thunder Power packs!

You can only purchase these OEM packs built by TP through Miniature and their dealers/distributors. Plus, they are actually cheaper than previous TP packs and all the other competitors with lesser performing packs.

For all out 90 sized and 3D power, you want the 4P 8000 mAh packs. The 6000s are best suited for sport flyers. JK has flown the 3P and 4P packs himself and far prefers the 4Ps.
