OK,

I bit the bullet and bought a gv-1. Well, I am having some trouble setting it up. I have the 9 channel futaba reciever and the 9CHP transmitter. I have channels 7 and 8 open on the reciever. I can use switch C on my transmitter. I probably want to have separate channels for on/off and rpm if this is what all the other guys are doing and there is a good reason for it. So do I put the on/off on channel 7 and then the rpm in channel 8? Could I use the middle knob on my transmitter to adjust rpm just like I can for hover and pitch with the two outside knobs? How should I be setting this thing up. Oh, yeah, one more thing. What is the best type of glue to use on the magnet. I have the os .61 wc and it already has a little hole in the fan for the magnet. Thanks.

Offspring,

I just installed my GV-1 today with my 9CHP. It took me a while to figure out the channel thing. I have mine setup to turn on/off with switch D on Channel 8 and rpm is adjusted using Switch: Cond. on Channel 7. Basically this allows the idle up switch to change rpm with idle up adjustments. If you don't want to use the governor then simply switch channel D off. I also have the GV-1 setup to switch on above 15% throttle. This works very nice as well. If you leave the governor on and begin to spool up, the GV-1 will not engage until 70% speed is reached, no matter where the stick position is.

As for glue, I used the recommended 30 min. epoxy. I have seen several posts that say you shouldn't use anything faster.

GV-1

I set mine up similar to Dr Crash. I used the p-mix connected to the center knob on the 9c and have an adjustable rpm. 1380-1920rpm. I have the switch set up for 1450-1650-1850 with the knob making adj in between. I also used 30min epoxy on the mag.

Set up

I have a GV-1 and a 9CHP as well and am using ch 7 and 8. I have my Gov activated when sw F is down (ie: in idle up 3 on) and have sw C with 3 rpms 1850, 1900,&1950. I chose this way personnaly because if the GV-1 screws up I find it comforting to just get out of idle up 3 and the GV-1 is out of the equation. Its also very comforting for the first test flight not knowing exactly what to expect without having a chain and anchor attached to you skid should your heli go buck wild and try and get away
