Hi all,

Anyone had any trouble with the short drive belt on the tail rotor of Maxi Joker?

After approx 40 flights I discovered mine had very few teeth left on it.

The machine was flying ok apart from slight twitch on the tail.

The belt was too loose. You have to make that belt very tight and you will not have any problems.

You actually had a few teeth left on yours?

Mine stripped every single one. What I did when I got a new belt last week was to rotate the little carbon boom 90 degrees and drill all 4 holes again, just a tiny bit farther out.

It is good and tight now, I figure it will loosen up just a hair after it wears in and will be perfect.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one!

Hi Greg and Joe,

11 teeth left.

We were watching some video we had taken with the heli yesterday and heard this strange noise on the audio (belt slipping), there was also a slight shake on the film. Had we not heard the audio we would probably not noticed the problem until checking the belt before next outing. The belt was tight when we checked in the morning.

I already have a second set of holes in the carbon tube as we discovered the belt had gone slack after first couple of flights and required adjustment. Maybe the initial damage to the belt was done then.

Its still a great machine and I must try and get a spare one.

That's why I picked up the used CX when I had the chance - I'll fly it as it is for now, then may turn it into a second Maxi someday. I like the fact that I can swap many parts between them even with them being slightly different.
