It was only the 2nd time he has ever flown at night, at least he was willing to do it. There aren't many people night flying anymore. Cut him some slack.

It was me. It was regular Glow wire. Been about a year since i ordered it, so i can not confirm the details of that wire. I called and talked to a lady there and asked which colors were brightest, if memory serves the tail is officially "pink."

First time for me, was scared at first. Hands were shaking. Actually easier to see at night than the day, but its just freeky to get used to. Loved it though. Ended up flying 3 flights. Going to double up on the tail fin glow sticks next time.

I've got $125 in the blades (custom made by Playfair)Awesome blades by the way, and I've got 4 different colors of glowire at about $100.

You don't need that much glowire so you could do it for around $175-$200.

Spiff,

I saw your flights and I thought you did pretty good! I thought you colors were great, it was really easy to see. I'm planning the get a night bird setup for the Phoenix FF in March. Do you have any picture of your bird with the lights on .

Here ya go paul,

The glow wire is attached onto the canopy by drilling 1/16 holes every couple inches then lacing it in place with dental floss, then hit it with a bit of CA, works pretty good. Picked that up from a few guys here that do it that way.

I taped my battery and the glow wire driver to the bottom of the canopy, i like it because it you have access to the switch and bat, but the tape was loosening up a bit after a few flights so i'll be adding a few tie wraps or velcro bands to secure it a littel better.

Most folks also add a few glow sticks. One to the tail fin, and a couple to the skids, so you can still see what you are doing if the glow wires were to quit on you. being able to see the tail seems to be most important.
