They are disappearing into the trash after I reply to them.

Its happening to a buddy also.

The Hot Girls thread is nearing a half million views and the velocity of hits is starting to rip a hole in the fabric of the time-space continuum. It is just the PM's getting sucked out now. In a couple of days Gallery's will start to go missing and soon after; whole threads.

New PM Feature

To declutter your inbox, each pm that you reply to is now automatically moved to trash. This feature saves you the hassle from deleting redundant PMs in your inbox.

Exception: If you chose not to save a copy of the pm reply, the original message will remain in your inbox.

For the sent folder, each reply prunes the previous saved copy if the same.
